Hello everyone,

I originally sent in the declaration of how we met along with the i129f and it was about a half a page and was kind of like a timeline. I originally asked her to marry me via FaceTime but didn’t want to mail a ring to Vietnam since they sometimes steal stuff out of the packages. After We mailed the i129f, I went back to Vietnam again to officially give my fiancée the ring and proposed to her at dinner in front of her family.  We also took another trip to da nang and I have so many photos and receipts of that trip too.

I wanted to see if I could send uscis an updated timeline of my recent trip to see her while the i129f is in process, or would they at least accept it and read it once the interview happens?  I’m planning on going back again to be with her for the interview too when it happens.

Thank you!

Thank you!  I was thinking that’s all I can really do is wait for the interview at this point too.  Should I include heartfelt sentences that describe how our relationship is, or should that be in a separate document outside of the timeline?  Should the incline just include the facts and nothing else?

Not necessary at all. All evidence gathered subsequent to your petition filing should only be brought to the interview. If everyone sends updated timelines and proofs to USCIS while waiting for adjudication, can you imagine the mess that they have to go through to insert the additional updated information etc every time?

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Yeah true I don’t want to delay other people’s petitions either, effectively slowing mine down in the process as well lol. I’m just hoping they don’t just look at our first i129f and not read the additional evidence. Our first set of evidence is very strong, but I heard some people say that the co will read all of our stuff ahead of time and make a decision based upon the first set of evidence right before the interview and May not want to see our updated stuff. Maybe I’m wrong though...

No need at all. You have done your part of the process and now all your go to do is wait for the approval and once that happens then it will be your fiancee's turn to start working on the paperwork and collecting evidence :) so sit back and relax

I'd definitely focus on the time line and not so much the heartfelt sentences. Just focus on the facts. Also, I agree with everyone else, send the updated info for your fiancé to take to the interview. :)

Good to hear that you are going to the interview. In my opinion - and since I actually attended the interview - there's only a few things that are important to the CO:

-Proof of a real relationship (visiting family, travel together, etc. Photos are important, but don't overkill)

-Your financial situation. The better you look financially, the better.

-How much you know about each other. If they smell fraud, the questions will get personal and intense.

-Having a good attitude. If she can speak English, that's even better.

All the talk about "front-loading" - i.e.; cramming a bunch of unnecessary stuff into an envelope - is nonsense. It's always quality over quantity. No need to give them anything beyond what they ask for. I've worked for the federal government - they always want EXACTLY what is on the directions. Go to the interview - that's the most important part of the K-1 visa. And it's a crazy experience!

Good luck!

Nothing you provide now would affect the I-129F, and that's the only thing USCIS cares about. Even the piece about meeting within 2 years would be unaffected since that had to have happened before you filed it.

The added trip is good, and should help for the interview portion of things later. I suggest the beneficiary bringing the added evidence at that time.

Getting engaged does not require you to hand deliver a ring.  You can ask for her hand in marriage via any means you like.  I would not send in an updated timeline.  It might confuse people.  Good luck.  david
