(presumably you are a citizen by now!)

- NOA1/priority date: December 31st, 2018
- Biometrics: January 30th, 2019

I think the Newark transferees should call and try the “I need to speak with a tier 2 officer” approach to see if you can get a human being to address your individual situation.

Are they nice or helpful on the phone? I didn't even know that we could talk to a real person. Do I call the number on the USCIS Contact Center number that was on my interview notice?

I sent a message through the system last week asking about the strange timing on my account and they replied with a generic letter saying that my application information has been entered into the system which schedules applicants for oath ceremonies etc. etc.

So I just called. To answer my own question, it's hard to get to a person but they were super nice and patient.

I don't think it was a Tier II officer. He was overall very confused by the whole wait estimates thing as they don't see it. He said that it should definitely not take that long. He said he's never heard of someone waiting for 4 months for a ceremony. He looked into it for a while, making sure that everything was fine. He also put me on hold for a while. I'm assuming that he asked around. He confirmed that the case was handed off to New York successfully. I tried to push him to see if there's anything else he can do but he said it's only been 2 weeks and that the offices usually take around 30 days to schedule. He told me to call back in November if nothing changes. I asked if there was a way to reach the field office but he said there wasn't without an appointment.

It's a bit of a waiting game I guess.

I'd say it's definitely a consequence of having being interviewed in NJ. At least he confirmed they have the case back. It's probably sitting in some virtual pile waiting for a human to deal with it. For the people who are interviewed in Federal Plaza there is obviously an automatic process in place which assigns oath dates but this process of transferring to NJ is new and perhaps things aren't as smooth.

OK that makes sense, people from Queens have a shorter waiting time than those in Manhattan

Oh yes. It definitely is due to the transfer. I read about people having an oath day within days in New York everywhere. We aren't in the same queue as the people that get approved at that field office for some reason. He said he'd add notes and show that I called and that might give them a little nudge but it didn't sound promising.

Hi :)

I live in BK. I think the officer just gave me a generic answer similarly to the ‘completion date’ estimate.

My oath was scheduled 1.5 week later ... and is on Halloween ;)

Sending to all of you guys good vibes and speedy responses for interviews and oath dates. A special good vibe for the guys transferred to NJ office. Hang on there!

@Sherjaassuming one year to the interview is safe for NYC right now.  Brooklyn cases getting moved to Newark helped so it's possible you could be somewhere nearer the 9-10 month mark.

I just got an email saying that my oath ceremony has been scheduled. Thrilled to say the least! My account doesn't show anything and there's no document yet.

@methold I'm guessing that you'll get yours any time now as well!

Maybe your call had an impact? I don't think the timing is a coincidence!

Who knows! I hope people are getting scheduled and everyone who got transferred don't have to start calling.

By the way, the change shows up on my account now. The document is not yet available. The estimates still the same as before.

@sgzrI recently went through the same process. MyUSCIS was updated a Friday evening with the "oath scheduled" message and the actual oath letter showed up on my account the Monday afternoon right after. So the wait is almost over for you ;)

In terms of timing, I had my interview in Manhattan 10/9, the website updated to "oath scheduled" on 10/18, the actual letter was uploaded 10/21 and my oath is 10/31 (this Thursday!!!).

Hope this helps! Good luck.

A.

I woke up to another email today saying “We have taken an action on your case and it needs your attention.” with a red exclamation point. The tone is very alarming but there’s nothing new. Assuming they just want me to keep an eye on it and not miss my ceremony?

I don’t know the names of the two separate online systems but I believe the first email I got yesterday was from the old one where you can save receipt numbers and set up email alerts. This is the first one from the actual myUSCIS system where I submitted my application. The old one has been updating before the new one and it lacks detail.
