No pun or laughter aside but I think WE ALL agreed on another thread when he was asking Comey questions that something was not right in his head and something was wrong. So I hope he gets better honestly.

John McCain is a honorable man. Hope he gets well soon. His only questionable decision in my opinion was picking Palin for VP back in 08.

I agree, this is terrible news for anyone.  My understanding is that this is the same type of brain cancer that killed Beau Biden, so the fight will be tough, but I wish him a speedy and satisfactory recovery.

My sister had a brain tumor, this is close to home for me.

What a terrible situation to be in. Good to see the so-called president put aside his pettiness in a moment like this, and move away from derogatory comments about Senator McCain.

Mr. McCain, 80, has a glioblastoma, one of the most common but also one of the most malignant brain tumors. It can be treated with chemotherapy and radiation, but medical experts said it almost always grows back.

Mr. McCain’s office said he was recuperating at his home in Arizona and “appreciates the outpouring of support he has received over the last few days.”

His office said Mr. McCain would decide when to return to the Senate as he consults with his medical advisers.

Four presidents — Donald J. Trump, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and the elder George Bush — issued heartfelt statements wishing Mr. McCain a speedy recovery late Wednesday.

“Senator John McCain has always been a fighter,” Mr. Trump said.

Mr. Obama, who defeated Mr. McCain in the 2008 election, called the senator a “hero & one of the bravest fighters I’ve ever known.”

“Cancer doesn’t know what it’s up against,” Mr. Obama tweeted. “Give it hell, John.”

Trump: John McCain is an American hero & one of the bravest fighters I've ever known. Cancer doesn't know what it's up against. Give it hell, John.

Trump: He’s not a war hero, he was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.

Is this really the time for that?

From us, probably not.

Though if I were McCain I would probably say "Respectfully, President Trump, you are a jacka** and I don't want your sympathy. It's hollow and means nothing."

Something like that.

I actually met the guy in person, roughly 2007, when working for Google.. was around the time Hillary came for a visit along with some ex-HP CEO who was either Carly Fiorina or someone else whos name eludes me right now but they were pitching their book.

As McCain came from the east entrance to the main campus (where the two founders, CEO, etc. are) I was heading toward one of the buildings for lunch, saw him coming with an entourage, I went to shake his hand, a gentleman stepped out to shake my hand first. Being left handed, I tend to put out my left to shake, but as I was about to I noticed this guy was a four star general who was missing much of an arm I was going to shake, so I immediately switched and shook his only hand. Then after that nearly-awkward situation I shook McCain's hand and told him nice to meet you, he responded in kind. He later did a speech in I believe it was Building 40 (the one closest to Shoreline Amp across the street) where we tended to have lunch and TGIF. He seemed like a pretty nice guy. So despite me hating his politics, from one person to another I still wish him the best.
