I haven't filed an I-90, just I-751.

I was referring specifically to changing my name in SSA, DL, credit cards, etc.

Just used my marriage certificate with my maiden name.

i Heard you can change to married name when you file I-751 ???

I heard the same, unfortunately I decided on the change after I filed.

So if i want to change my wife's last name to mine i should just go ahead and file I-90 and Submit the Marriage Certificate that we are married and she want's to change her last name to mine? I just don't want to file the I-90 and they say we need a court order because she's immigrant and i don't know how they would process that.

I'm confused. Why do you care about Vietnam passport? I wouldn't be messing with any changes on any VN document - that's inviting a lot of unnecessary problems. And why are you obsessing with changing her last name to yours? My wife is using her VN name until we get past all of the immigration issues. Guess what? We are sailing along with zero problems. She uses her VN passport to travel into VN and green card (with her VN last name) to get back into the U.S. If you start going to courts, changing names on SSN and other documents - well, sooner or later, you will have a problem. Just leave it alone and wait (at least) until you get to ROC stage. Don't go messing around with immigration in the Trump era. Walk quietly on the rice paper, young grasshopper, and all will be well. :)

Pretty smooth sailing for us - we changed everything apart from the green card. Passport notation is just that a page in the Viet passport with wife's married name.

I751 made the change there and everything lines up!!! Then Bob is your uncle. 😎

So at the roc stage i can change my wifes last name to mine? I just wanted her greencard and other documents such as ss# and drivers license to have the same surname as mine. and if you can change from maiden name to married name during the roc process is there anything i have to do or do i just tell them my wife would like to use my last name because we are married. i was just worried about this because when we file roc i want to have good bonafide evidence.

So i guess vietnam does not let it's citizens change the passports to the married names from what i've heard because i want my wife to have my last name but realized that i've already sent documents in the i-130 and nvc documents i know that you dont need to change the last name to married name. but on our marriage certificates it just show that we got married but it doesn't really change our name on the marriage certifate because it show's she still has her last name. any advice worst to come i would have to file I-90 and then file for new SS# in my last name for the name change.

You have me so confused.  I married my wife in the Philippines.  Applied for CR-1.  We never changed her name on her Philippines passport.  No need to do that.  Just two or three weeks after she arrived in the US she received her green card in her married name.  Also no problem in getting SS card in her married name.  She is US citizen now and no longer has a Philippines passport.  There is no need for that.  She now has a US Passport.  I don't understand why you are so obsessed with getting your wife's last name changed at this point.  We need to sit down, take a breath and relax.  Good luck and God Bless

we  received our removal of conditions and now  we are filing her  N400 and requesting her name change..  I read somewhere that it is not necessary to go to court but to use her citizenship papers with ss , driver license, and bank accounts  once she is a citizen.

We plan to change my wife's name in conjunction with citizenship, at which point she will apply for a US passport and allow the Vietnamese passport to expire.  No fuss with different names on green cards, etc.  Admit that allowing the Vietnamese passport to expire comes with a cost (I suppose), but my wife believes strongly she immigrated to the US to not only be with me, but also be an American. :)
