Denial of tourist Visa under 214(b)

My mother in law was denied a b-2 visa and was given a white slip that said she was found ineligible for a non immigrant visa

under section 214(b) of the US immigration and nationality act.

She answered all her questions asked of her okay.

Has anyone ever been given this form before and is there anything she can do to overcome this if she chooses to reapply?

The IO did not give her any reasons for her denial, just told her to read the white slip but it says nothing really other than she was found

ineligible for a visa.

Maybe someone can help explain this code

Probably lack of ties to home country. 

 

Each person applying for a tourist visa is assumed to have immigrant intent and it is the applicants job to prove them otherwise.

 

What type of home ties did she supply?

 

I am aware as are many members how difficult it can be to get a tourist visa from the Philippines.

This is the typical tourist visa denial form. It's for lack of ties usually and suspected immigrant intent. Basically, they don't think she will return to her home country.

She and her husband have a home business

she has a 7 year old son at home and a 16 year old daughter at home

she has a couple of older daughters as well, one will marry next year

she has a granddaughter in Philippines and wanted to be here for the

birth of her first grandson here in USA.

such is life

Did she say she was going to help with the new baby? Because that might've been one of the reasons for the denial, even if they didn't specify it.

 

Helping with a baby, even if it's a family member, is considered work by the US govt and they will deny tourist visas for that reason.

No she already knew that, she told them twice just for vacation.

She only wanted to come for 2-3 weeks
