What surprises me is if anyone wanted to compare Trump to a former Roman emperor I would have imagined they would have chosen Nero, or Caligula.

Yes, but the issue is that it is an apples and oranges comparison.  Artists do not have to answer to investors, but corporations do.

But to address your post, every artist or performer who relies on revenue to survive answers to investors (patrons).

Perhaps they pulled the sponsorship because they knew Obama could take the criticism, whereas Trump is not the most congenial politician in the swamp.
