Too cold? Dude, you're from Michigan. It's probably one of the only places I've seen Vjers from that gets weather similar to here. What is she from Siberia?

Cheerful? Can tell you haven't been here long enough

True stories:

- When my dad died in the early 1990s, I went to visit fam in Redford (my dad is from Livonia) and they introduced me to hockey (I'm from California so wasn't used to it at the time). It's also why I've been a Red Wings fan since.

- I literally was thrown out of bed during that first visit being scared ****less from their violent thunderstorms that sounded like a fricken plane was going by the house.

- I'm 100% convinced house-shaking thunderstorms serenades Michiganders to sleep, especially those in the UP.

Michigan isn't all that cold.  And it's downright awesome in the summer!

I guess it depends where in Michigan. I know there are places there that get just as frozen as here or in Wi in the winter. Summers are always awesome in any of those states.

By awesome do you mean muggy and nasty due to Great Lakes effect?

Part of the reason we moved from Toronto to Calgary was I couldn't stand the humidity around the lakes, especially in the summer. It's not like the humidity from Texas to Florida and much of the SE US, but bad enough to want out.

Spoiled too much by California climate.. Calgary is pretty decent too. Some whine about the air being too dry though.

That is more of a joke for my wife.  She hates the cold, and I always tell her "you are from Siberia, you hate the cold, and you came to Michigan?".   Needless to say, I still only like visiting, don't want to live there.

I heard they have vodka on tap in Siberia (Russian water), should warm people up pretty nicely. Personally, I'd recommend whiskey.

Katya's cousin makes his own whiskey which is actually quite tasty and not too strong (I estimate about 40 proof).  It really tastes great after banya!
