US comedian Kathy Griffin apologises for 'beheaded Trump' photo

I love free speech.  We get to hear and see all the great things both sides have to offer.  Is she as vile as Hannity?

A US comedian has apologised for a photo shoot in which she appeared holding a fake bloodied head that resembled US President Donald Trump.

In a video message posted on Twitter, Kathy Griffin "begged" for forgiveness and said she had "crossed a line".

She said she was asking celebrity photographer Tyler Shields to remove the photo from the internet.

The gruesome image brought a storm of online criticism, including from Mr Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr.

"Disgusting but not surprising," he tweeted. "This is the left today. They consider this acceptable."

Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Mr Trump's 2016 election rival Hillary, also condemned the image, calling it "vile and wrong".

"It is never funny to joke about killing a president," she tweeted.

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney also waded in, tweeting: "Our politics have become too base, too low, & too vulgar, but Kathy Griffin's post descends into an even more repugnant & vile territory."

  Stereotyping, blaming 'the left' for the actions of a single person. He'd fit in well here. I wonder if he has a VJ account?

it would be the same as the hannity thing if trump were actually dead and his parents were making public pleas to kathy griffin to stop including dead donald trump in her standup routine for personal gain - which she then ignores and rolls the head around stage anyway.

What Griffin did was wrong BUT the difference between her and Hannity is Griffin realized what she did wrong and apologized for it. 

 

Yes, Hannity is still vile because he has made countless derogatory comments during his time on Fox news.

Free Speech is free speech, but still has consequences. She's pretty vile regardless usually.

But Hannity is also a comedian and entertainer, except that he is not funny. A journalist he most certainly is not. 

 

In any case, Kathy was wrong. She is entitled to free speech as much as the next guy, but she could have done without the joke.

i really only commented because the comparison to hannity is false. i'm not a griffin fan at all. but comedy is totally subjective, like all art. personally, i don't see how griffin could be 'wrong' with her comedy but i'm starting to feel like the american people are having to make all these exceptions for trump because he's a 'different' kind of potus and i feel like with this 'different' kind of administration where political norms are being broken there will in turn be some creative/artistic norms that will be bent or broken.so yeah, cry me a river - a comedian made a dumb joke. trump jr should go whine in a corner, maybe get a hug from a stuffed trophy of an endangered species or something.

The left rely on comedians for their news so I'd call her a journalist by left standards. #JournalistJohnOliver

 

Wouldn't surprise me if they think Hannity is a journalist too rather than a pundit.

Yes, I remember that episode with the bbq sauce, she was extremely annoying in that episode as well.
