06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I think most of us have an actual job to go too. Mine is taking care of my family. It's a sacrifice but someone's got to do it.

Oh yeah, much better!

 

Seriously, is Ecuador a "back door" to the US as another poster claimed? I don't think that the US consulate in Quito would be selling visas to anyone, because they are not part of the Ecuadorian government, and that seems to be a point the other poster missed.

Quito embassy handles all the tourist visas, and they're tough, albeit with some granting in no clear pattern.

Guayaquil consulate handles the K-1/CR-1 applications.

That's what I thought - the process is similar everywhere, and the scrutiny is the same. I hear it's rough everywhere, especially on tourist visas.
