I knew you were going to say that. In fact, I was going to add to my post that before you say so is Trump, I'm not talking about him, but I opted against it because I wanted to see what would happen :D

Nevertheless...throughout the process in the last year + I have found Kasich to be very annoying. He definitely wasn't my cup of tea then again neither were most of them, Trump, Cruz and Rubio included. Really the only one I kinda sorta "like"(which is the closest I can ever come with a politician) is Rand Paul.

I think Paul would have made a fairly good president. I don't agree with everything he says, but at least he understands how the administration should work.

There are no sanctuary cities. There are certain cities that told the federal government that the Feds can't force them to enforce immigration. These cities have enough on their plates, and the only reason they are on the news is because their mayors were vocal about the issue. San Francisco is no more a sanctuary city than any other city in the country.

What is your understanding of the term "sanctuary city"?

It's very basic and probably off.

But I believe if cities catch an illegal and they report it to ice they are supposed to get compensated. Somehow they were not receiving the funding so they stopped reporting the illegals and just released them back in to the community or judges ordered their release.

According to the constitution, matters of immigration fall under the purview of the Federal Government. Cities can no more enforce immigration than they can issue green cards. The Federal government expects every cop in America to become an immigration agent, and start questioning people they suspect of being in the country illegally. That alone is considered profiling, and it is illegal. So, if a cop stops you for a traffic violation, there are no constitutional grounds for the police to ask you about your immigration status. The vast majority of undocumented immigrants in America are law abiding citizens, and our cities don't want to alienate them, because as it is they also need protection, and in some cases they police need their help, as in any other community.

These cities -- any city - don't get any money for arresting anyone.   The funds the so-called president was threatening to withhold are not and cannot be linked to the apprehension of any particular individual.

The police will call ICE on some undocumented immigrants, if during the course of an investigation they ascertain that the person in question is a criminal.

The failed EO's intention was to blackmail the police force in our states to act like the the Stasi.

ICE is not in every city, so yes, they rely on city, county, and state governments to cooperate with federal law. If ICE were to perform the function of arresting every criminal there'd be absolutely no use for local authorities. However, calling ICE isn't even in the remotest sense burdensome, so this is all politics of wanting to let illegals go free, by those who clearly sympathize with those breaking the law.

But I do encourage proactiveness, so I'll just leave this here for the many who do respect the law and don't trust their local law enforcement to do their part:

A simple search on the web throws out the example below, there are stories of drug dealers, rapists, abusers being released. So what's the advantage of these illegals being released into your community where you and your family are trying to live peacefully. Sorry I can't agree and if punishing these so called sanctuary cities is the answer the every citizen should be behind it and not playing politics.

This guy has nothing to offer to your country other than pure violence.

"Estivan Rafael Marques Velasquez, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, and an "admitted member of the notorious MS-13 gang, was released from Rikers Island [prison] on Feb. 16 after serving time for disorderly conduct."

Despite Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) asking that Velasquez be turned over to them for deportment following his prison sentence, he was simply allowed to walk free under New York City's sanctuary policy.

Velasquez's rap sheet includes "second-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct."

It is true though. SFPD came a long way in regards to civil rights, and they are doing their job according to the law. You can't force them to take up an immigration role, nor will they. They already have enough with their duties as it is.

ICE did their job:

They were forced to send their own agents to find him, and they were able to track him down the same day in Queens.

“He has been processed and is now in … detention pending removal,” ICE said in a statement Tuesday.

ICE should come for anyone they are interested in.

There is no excuse for anyone to defend or deny sanctuary cities. This should be nothing to do with politics, this is stupidity at the highest level to allow these criminals to stay. Just reading about it makes me angry, do you guys not want to be safe from guys like this?

From 2005 San Francisco

"Last week, 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle was murdered in San Francisco. The man who's accused of murdering her (who was arrested the day after the murder) is called Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate by federal officials. But when he was released from a local jail in March, he went by Francisco Sanchez.

The murder is getting national attention because Sanchez is an unauthorized immigrant — and because he was released from jail in March despite a request from the federal government to hold him until federal immigration agents could pick him up. So the case has become a referendum on what opponents call San Francisco's "sanctuary city" policy"
