Little face time, is it a big issue even if we have known each other for a long time?

I only visited twice. The first time for 3 months, which is when we met, and the second time for only about 2 weeks. Not as much as we should have, but I'm also heading back next week.

My husband is also from Kenya. We met each other several times in Kenya and once in South Africa after the K1 was filed. So I gave him all the material to have with him. Photos, Chat logs, etc. They would not let me come there to go with him to the interview. Not sure if it was a security issue.

We are a same-sex couple, so I was concerned about his questions/answers being overheard, but he said the other applicants for B1/2 or F1's etc were too anxious to bother to listen. He got asked a lot of questions about the relationship which spanned 3 years. (15 in all which "I think' is a lot).

One thing he told me is this: He held the eyes of the Visa Officer who was very business like, typing away on the computer. I front loaded loads of boarding passes, photos, three letters from USC friends. You should be fine though. I like the idea of taking her passport to the interview to show she is in the country, though I am sure they would know that anyway LOL. The government knows everything,,,,,,,,Good luck!!

Yeah I agree with all of the above.  One thing I did read was that you need to make sure you are very confident in your answers and body language.  Know everything that your fiance sent in the packet in case any questions come up about what was sent.  When my hubby and I were going thru the process, I sent him a copy of the entire packet I sent in so he could study every piece of paper I sent in.  We even had little quizzes as to what he remembered lol.  Best wishes on your journey!!

Have your fiance on the premises for the interview. Immediately when you enter and greet the CO

tell him/her your fiance is waiting outside, it will definitely help.

This encourages me so much seeing that we are almost in the same situation yet the only trouble they gave u was on financial documents

I only had visited once at the time the petition was filed. Visited a second time after it was filed. My 3rd visit was for the interview. We did not have years together either but we were approved! It can happen!

If your fiancé can be outside for the embassy that will help. The Ghana embassy also doesn't allow petitioners in for the interview. I went anyway and gave my husband a letter to give the CO stating I was outside should they want to talk to me. We also made copies of my visa stamps, boarding passes and hotel receipts, and included pictures from the three previous days. Two of the staff members including the CO apologized that I wasn't allowed in, so I know they saw the proof I was in the country. Even though you're at a different embassy, I would highly recommend this for you.

Also practice questions together before the interview. Read through reviews by others who have gone through your embassy and have your fiancé ask you questions. This helped my husband become familiar with possible questions and allowed me an opportunity to give some feedback. It gave him a lot of confidence going into the interview.

Having her here on the day of the interview is very ideal the only challenge is she cannot get time off work

His visa was approved this morning.:dancing:

Also, I echo the posts about being confident in your answers and when interacting with anyone at the embassy. That was stressed to us before the interview and so my fiance was very confident and held eye contact.

Great to have helped. Culturally, this is not something Kenyans do (doesn't mean dishonesty, but direct phraseology and direct eye contact with Americans are critical to success).
