My Visa was denied and I am so desperate right now I come to seem for advice.

I am a Cameroonian Citizen and I have been in China for 5 years . I am student , I study Mandarin Chinese.I have obtained a mandarin Chinese certificate from a college now I got to a University to further the program to a higher level which really means a lot to me .But it seems its not enough as tie.

Today is the 1st of April 2017 and I wish to attend my sisters wedding on the 27th May 2017 in New Orleans. We havent met for 14 years ( i was just about 16) and she s got 2 kids already I barely know and she s getting married .I really hope I can attend the wedding.I would like help especially on how to fill the DS160 form cuz I think it matters a lot . Actually all my relatives live in the US  and are citizens Father ,Mother ,2 older sisters and older brother and I mentioned that on my previous DS160 (could that work against my case? should I omit to mention them while filling the form ? but I must fill the two sisters cuz they will sponsor my trip....

This is how it went..

Vo: good morning

Me: good morning

Vo where are yo going?

Me : New Orleans

Vo: how long have you been in China

Me : 5 Years

Vo: what are you doing ?

Me Im a student

Vo : Degree(with eyes on me wide opened)

Me:  No

VO: Have you ever been to another country?

Me: Macau

Vo: This time I won't give you a visa then returned the passport and handed over the 214(b) form . I thought I was dreaming as I walked away ...but yeah It was a refusal ..and what was even more frustrating was that the guys ahead (Chinese) were all celebrating their approval..   I was faking a damn smile while shading tears in my heart with ever step being heavier than the previous one as I walked out of the consulate in Guangzhou, China.

I need some help please

Thanks

Well first off there is no such thing as sponsor a turist visa.

Second of all it does goes against you that you already id in a second country because if you left home to be there what stops you from leaving there to go live in US also with your whole family and your parents being citizens.

Your travel history is not very long either.

The certificate from the College isn't that a degree?

I am sorry but it is difficult for a young single person whose family all resides in the US to get a visitor visa. When applying for a visitor visa you have to show ties to your country meaning a reason to return to Cameroon. You have more ties in the US than Cameroon because all of your family is here. School isn't a strong tie because you can find another school here.

You can try again later but do not expect it to be a easier chance.

P.S. Never omit important information like having family in the US to immigration. Especially if you have already mentioned it. That is an easy to possibly get a permanent ban from the US.

yes I'm Single but I study in China and after 5 years of investment both  time and money  I am finally just a year from graduating and  I wont give up right at the end ..My intentions are clear just to attend my older sister's wedding that I haven't seen for 14 years and whose kids (nephews) are strangers, therefore long to meet so much , then get back to China , Ill be back to my home country next year when Im done with my studies ..but I wonder if there can be a way to show how important  is for me to get my degree here in China and that going back home to after graduation here to get a stable life is my ultimate goal  ....I got  friends who study here too who got their visa approved    so how can I make it happen.

For right now, getting a tourist visa is very unlikely. Sorry to be blunt, but that's the reality here. You simply don't have many ties to return home and lots of ties (family) to stay in the US. The CO assessed your situation and likely believe you are too likely a risk to be an intending immigrant. By law, they must assume you are an intending immigrant until you can prove to them otherwise. While the interview is important, it's only 1 aspect of your case. It's not so much a matter of you convincing the CO...it's about having ties to convince him.

You are free to try again, but it's very unlikely to get a different result until your circumstances have changed. You will need to declare your previous denial as well. The issue isn't that you're a student. It's just that being a student is a weak tie to return to China...there's very few hurdles to coming to the US and finishing school there instead.

As for your friends, their circumstances are likely different than yours. From everything I've seen here on VJ, comparing your case to somebody else's case is usually not a productive endeavor. The circumstances are never identical (despite them looking so at face value).

So I guess I should just write my sister a letter a wish her a wonderful wedding and once again apologize for not qualifying to attend her wedding  .

All you can do is try. You have to look at it from immigration point. A person from Africa studying Mandarin for what? It doesn't even sound plausible even though your efforts might be true and honest. Matters not. All your ties truly are in the US and they know it and so do you. Sorry but that's just the plan facts.

Your job is to show, convince the CO that you have every intention to return because of your great life or ties you have in Cameroon. But you have none. Your family, the very people you are trying so hard to go see are all in US. You would return to Cameroon to who, no one. They are all in US.

Thanks for your words .though all the facts seem to be against my case /i want to state another fact. my family left to the us in 2003 that's 14 years ago and I have NEVER applied for visa to the US within this time .two weeks ago was my first ever time and it was denied. I believe if I really wanted to move to the Us so bad I would have applied long before .besides I'm just a year from graduating as a translator (not just Mandarin but French English as well) .I said all my family members are US citizens and I'm not and they live in the US .Sadly I lost my mom three years ago in Georgia and I couldn't even attend her funeral cuz I was here in China ....My sisters all have kids I barely know and one is getting married ...well I guess Im just doomed .\

Anyway thanks so much for all your answers .I will apply one more time I don't think my case has changed so much but I hope Im at least given the chance to tell the purpose of my trip cuz it means a lot to me and if this time is a denial /I don't think I will ever pass to the US embassy for visa anymore ........If it wasn't for the wedding I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even apply at all cuz I really am happy as I am and where I am ...

once more thank you

if any other advice before I book the appointment  (hopefully on the 18th of April 2017)  then that will be highly welcome .
