I am not 100% sure yet since USCIS website still says "Case was sent to the Department of State" but just saw that CEAC shows 3 N/A this morning and Visa Status Check says "At NVC", so hopefully case complete. Scan date was Feb 10th so that's exactly 9 weeks.

HAHAHA you made me laugh out loud here.  I wonder the same thing ... its a lot of work to do for a fake relationship. That being said, I personally know of 2 people who are "married" to friends of theirs and got away with it, doing adjustment of status.  They're acquaintances, not people I would call friends, as my friends have a conscience.  But it really is a ridiculous thought that people would do this much paperwork for fun.

I wouldn't call it fun, but fraud.

Some people just want to get entry to USA, no matter the means. We have to go through all the hoops because people misuse the system and they don't have anything to loose, so they are willing to take any risk. Genuine people have their relationship to look out for, so we have to make all the necessary preparations and answer any ridiculous questions they throw at us. I hate those people. I have heard many stories of people getting married for LPR status and some even remain married until they had Citizenship. That's something that we are all paying for. It is especially hard for people like me who are from a high fraud country. Whenever people hear that I married to a USC, the first question they ask is "Please set me up, too"; which is (Insulting to say the least) really annoying and makes me so angry at them. They just think everyone just lives to go to US. That's ridiculous and just so frustrating.

Sorry for all the ranting and thank you for your time. I wish no one faces these kind of ridiculous experience on top of all the questions we have to face at Visa Interview.

I 100% agreed with you @Tanish. When my American friends came to know about marriage ( I being US citizen and my wife being an Indian citizen), they asked me how much she paid me? I mean seriously! Instead of saying congratulations or happy for you, I was asked that ridiculous question.

I know how you feel. The first thing they say is "Couldn't you find someone in your own country?"

Of course we couldn't. We are not the least bit excited about spending more than a year apart after getting married, but we couldn't connect with any one we came across in our respective countries.

Hello first time posting here,

Visa application 3-01-2017

scan date 3-8-2017

half way there

Please be strong, you will be needing a lot of patience, i advise you do call them from time to time, EVEN they said, please call on your 11th weeks and a day, especially once or twice a week on your 9th week, i wish you best of luck..

hey lin# is the same number i used to check uscis ???? or am i supposed to be using nvc case number to check on my case???

When checking via uscis you will be needding the LIN#

when you are on NVC stage , and you have submitted all docs, do call after 3 working days and ask if they received the document, call everyday until they told you they scanned it to your system, (the so called scanned date - start counting from that day)

and you will be checking if your case got completed (via call you may use LIN# or nvc case number)

if via website ceac -(looking for 3 N/A's)  you will be needing NVC case number and invoice num

:) good luck
