I have a question that might sound odd to ask, do I have to be interviewed here in the US? Or in Morocco? Or do I not have to be interviewed at all? I am the US citizen, my husband lives in Morocco. I know he will have to be interviewed in his city, but will I need to be interviewed as well? If so, where? Here or there?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Ashley

I did some searching and apparently there are  few cases where there is an interview for the I 130... it seems to be when the beneficiary is already under removal conditions... and I dont think that is your situation !

you are not allowed in embassy for the interview / not even allowed to go in and protest a denied visa like in other countries / lawyer told me to do this and i was not allowed

the best thing is for you to be there to emotionally support spouse and go over your information ahead of inteview

keep spouse calm and confident/ so you don't have to repeat with a new application as it gets costly

we made it

you can too

incha allah

If the US citizen has to be interviewed at any time, then that means there is doubt about the application.

That usually means that the answers of both the petitioner and the beneficiary will be compared to determine if it is a bona fide marriage. You definitely don't want it to reach there.

Thank you, I don't think we will have issues. It's just that I saw a few couples at the consulate office in Morocco awaiting the interview. All 3 of the couples I saw, the American citizen was present. I didn't ask why. I just thought maybe they both had to be interviewed here lol. Thank you for responding.:)

While the american citizen can attend the interview, to show further support of their spouse, it is not necessary.  The interview will take place in the country of the beneficiary.  In some cases, the US citizen is invited into the interview and in some cases they are asked to stay behind and wait for their spouse.
I have seen the occasional situation where both are asked questions, but as I said, you don't have to be there, I guess this just happens sometimes if you are. If you're living abroad with your spouse then it would probably be a red flag to not be there for them, but as you're not living in the same country then you wouldn't be expected to be there.
