My wife and I have just recently completed out CR-1 Visa case alone.

After waiting for over 10 months, my wife and I can finally be together.  Our CR-1 has been finished, and she has the visa to be able to come to here USA.  We did it together.  I am in USA and she is in Thailand.  If anybody has any questions about the CR-1 visa process, i can give you some advice.

My question... Did you guys live together at all prior to your petition submission? If not, what kind of evidence did you provide to demonstrate a bona fide marriage?

I have read so many horror stories about people having trouble with the CR-1 Visa process. The problem is very simple, it is because you did not follow the instructions.  I followed the instructions precisely, and waited 10 months, and my wife's visa was issued.  No RFE's or anything. Please, feel free to send me a questions or a response.

But I think you have a shallow impression about the process, since is not simple at all, not at least for everyone. 

Saying this process is only about following the instructions is malicious and inconsiderate, since it means to ignore other factors that a couple sometimes can't change/control.

For some couples the process is smooth and it works perfectly, but for many others it can turn in years far from the people they love.

The couples that deal with US.Embassies in high fraud countries for example, those with genuine relationships, and still going through a long, tortuous scrutiny, would you still tell them is only about following instructions?

Totally agree with @ASMS here. The whole process is Embassy-specific. Some Embassies are fairly easy to get through, despite cases having red flags. But if the country is more high fraud, it can end up being a nightmare even for totally legitimate couples. I'm glad your process went smoothly, but simply following instructions doesn't automatically guarantee an approval for everyone right off the bat. Just be glad your Embassy was obviously not a hard one. Also, if you want to help others: consider showing your country on your profile/user info. This gives people a much better idea of what process you when through since it's country specific.

Our process was smooth with a visa in under a year too, but many couples in bonafide relationships run into issues despite following instructions to the tee. Too many variables dealing with NVC, USCIS, Embassies, local staff, etc.
