Day 227 just crazy.

We are currently in the US on a 9 week visit, my wife has been living outside of the US for 13 years so she has to prove intent to domicile. Setting up the bank accounts was easy enough and I got to buy my first car in the US. That was quite an experience because the dealership would not accept large credit card payments, so we are having to max our daily atm withdrawal limit to repay my wife's parents.

It feels strange setting up home even though we will be returning to Ireland just after Christmas to wait out the rest of the process. Our dog has officially immigrated to the US and is enjoying being a US doggy citizen.

May I ask why you didn't file as a citizen living abroad. I was told that was something you could do and the wait would have been shorter.

It wasn't an option, no direct consulate filing so we had to go through the lockbox unfortunately.

Well that sucks. 227 days for me as well. I'm barely a functioning human anymore.

people appeared to be getting approved with PDs after mine, so I made a service request in mid october saying i was worried that i didn't get the mailing...since i know the online status was wrong for us. i don't know if that's why the approval finally came or not, since they haven't responded to the service request.

the online case status is still not updated even though we got the mailing at the end of october. they have until nov 6 (pretty soon) to respond to the service request but luckily we got something in the mail already to give us some reassurance that the process is actually going somewhere. NOA1 i had to call/email about again and again to get a copy of because the post office returned it in error to USCIS....and the case status has been stuck saying the post office returned NOA1 since April...finally got them to resend the NOA1 in July. kicking myself because i filed at the lockbox when i could have filed overseas in Peru...very ridiculously slow and disorganized system. when i called in october to ask about the case, they could only see the online case status themselves, so i'm not impressed at all with the customer service of USCIS

i know that's a pretty negative post and people are still waiting. i can say that NOA2 did finally get sent so be hopeful but be very very patient. now i'm told that it may be anywhere from 4-8 months before we get an interview, depends on the consulate, and i will have to file taxes right away in januray, bleh

You have to keep calling.  It’s busy during the day.  Keep calling. They don’t know if there is an issue unless you call. The website isn’t managed by the department of state so unless you inform the nvc, they don’t know you’re stuck.
