Try Bank of America or Wells Fargo. I opened accounts with them using just my passport(foreign) and a letter. Bank of America even gave me a credit card

Yeah I know these banks are a lot more immigrant friendly. But my wife has been with chase for a long time and she had a good customer service experience with them after her credit card info was stolen. So I'll just wait. Shouldn't be too much longer anyway until I get my EAD.

Thank you for he suggestion though!

We received the EAD combo card this past Friday after requesting a second expedite on the evening of 4/3/17. The first one was closed out because biometrics had not been completed. The response for the course expedite in the mail we got was simply a copy of the biometrics appointment letter. Call the day after your biometrics is completed to request expedite again. You can see if the office does walkins to get them completed even sooner.

If you don't mind me asking, what reasons did you tell them for why you needed an expedite?

I want to request expidite because my husbands lease is due to end and I'm afraid that I may not be working before we move in together and have financial issues because he'll have to pay all the rent with just his income, but as he is my financial sponsor (no co sponsor in my application) that they will say he isn't financially able to support me and deny my application :(

AOS Journey

03/25/17: I-130, I-485, I-131 & I-765 packet sent

03/27/17: USPS confirmation of pickup from PO box

04/04/17: Checks cashed

04/05/17: NOA e-notifcation of I-130 (but no notifications of any other application)

04/07/17: Phone call to USCIS to confirm NOA are in the mail for all, I-130, I-485, I-131, & I-765

04/11/17: Received hardcopies of all 4 NOAs in the mail

04/29/17: Received biometrics appointment letter

05/12/17: Biometrics appointment

05/09/2017:Case updated to "Request for Initial Evidence mailed"

05/12/2017: Received RFIE

In "short" our savings went up in flames from:

-birth of daughter cost $1700 in medical costs

-i was docked $5600 due to preeclampsia and doctor  telling me to stop working sooner than expected

- had to pay $600 to cover insurance that lack of pay didn't cover

-daughter had a $3500 necessary surgery and medical bills at 2 months

-After daughter I had medical issues (diabetes, anemia, etc.) arise that were never present during pregnancy or before previously costing another $1500 and I need additional care that I'm scared to get bc of fear of additional costs

-husband got $1300 worth of dental work and needs more

I thought I was responsible had a good savings amount, everyone has insurance, contributed max to health spending account but the bills were nonstop once my husband and baby came. It was so crazy for us that paying for his AOS was severely delayed longer than we expected.

As as a man he wants more than anything to work to get us out of a hole and living comfortably with no worries of bills. I requested the expedite based on the financial hardships and provided proof of bills and docked pay with a 1 page letter explaining the circumstances. USCIS was understanding and when the card came my husband was so excited. I hate that he felt less than simply bc of the immigration process.

Even with the docked pay last year my income still meets/met the numbers needed to support our family according to guidelines.

You shouldn't worry but good luck. It can't hurt to try.

I agree. My husband and I opened a savings account with Bank of America and I opened a bank account with them.

The only thing they wanted to see was my passport, my NOA1 and my SSN.

Bank of America should be ok with passport only. My friend came here on tourist visa and opens an account there with no problem.

From what I have been able to read about Texas DL we can use our AOS NOA1 as proof of legal status.  I will be trying it soon and will let you know how it turns out.

@Kalciaa congratulations on your biometrics update and the proximity to your residence and work. I think it will be great to find out about your expedite at the ASC during the biometrics appointment. Good luck.

@Cynthia68 I can imagine how you feel, be a little more patient and let's see how next week goes for you. Be strong and positive. Good luck.

@RenoZiv congratulations on your biometrics appointment update. As par the EAD dates and timeline, I wish it could be so but I tend to differ considering the timeline of others I see which takes between 60-90 days after the biometrics appointment to be approved but if it happens otherwise that will be wonderful. Good luck.

@Becci391 it goes by the date that says " on the so so so and so day we received your...." that shows on your MyUSCIS platform. Good luck to us all. Have a nice weekend.

Thank you!! I checked the mail today, still nothing, maybe I should give them a call.

Does anyone know when we can get a new SS card? Only with the EAD or GC? Does it have the "valid for work only with DHS authorization"?

Unless you already have your Green Card, the SS card will have the "valid for work only with DHS authorization".

You are allowed to get up to 3 Social Security Cards in a year or 10 in a lifetime. Changing your name (such as through marriage) or changing your status (such as receiving Green Card) allow you to get a Social Security Card without counting towards this limit.

Hi all! I've been lurking here a while and am posting for the first time. I got married to my US citizen spouse recently and I'm adjusting status from a TN visa. USCIS received my application on March 21 and I just had my biometrics done on April 20. Last week, I received a notice that I had not submitted my I-693 medical exam form (this was intentional) and that I should bring it to the interview. I'm hoping that means that they have looked through my application, and since I haven't received any RFEs, everything is in order and my interview will be ready to schedule as soon as my background check comes through. But maybe I'm being too optimistic, lol. Has anyone else received something similar?
