Yeah, I think it takes a couple of days from the case number being assigned for you to be able to make the payments. The strange thing is, I called on Tuesday (3/7/2017) and they said there was no case number assigned yet. Then I looked at the case number, which shows it was assigned on 3/6/2017. That must be why I was able to pay, since a few days have passed since the case number was assigned. Interesting they said it still had not been assigned when I called the day after it was assigned...

I highly recommend doing so as soon as possible. That way you will receive all updates and notifications from them via email. So much better than calling.

Scan Date 1st December, 2016.

Case Completed on 7th March 2017.

Confirmed by calling NVC that our case has completed. We have received checklist email to bring W2 for year 2015 of Joint Sponsor at the time of interview but we have already submitted W2 for year 2015 to NVC? What is this?

Please also confirm me that should I have to also take form I864a with me at the time of interview. My wife's aunt is my joint sponsor. She has filled I-864 for me that we had submitted with only husband dependent. She has filed tax return jointly with her husband and she has made 36,000US$ alone in 2015. Should I also bring I864a with me at the time of interview or only I864 is enough that we have already submitted to NVC. Although NVC didn't request for I864a but please confirm me as someone told me that I have to bring I864a too with me at interview time.

You don't need i864a  as her w2 wIill show that she made enough by her self , I think they might be asking for 2016 w2.

How to Find Out WHEN Your Case Number was Assigned

For those that don't call every single day and want to know exactly what date their case number was assigned, there's an easy way to find out that simply involves looking at your case number. The first three letters are the three-letter consulate/embassy code. The next four numbers are the year the case number was assigned. The next three numbers are the Julian date it was assigned, plus 500. And finally, the last three numbers are the sequential order of when it was assigned that date. You can find a chart with Julian dates here [10].

For example: MTL2014815162. Let's put some lines in to divide it up. So: MTL|2014|815|162. This means that this case is going through Montreal and the number was assigned on November 11th, 2014, and it was the 162nd case that day to be assigned a number.

I checked it. It was assigned on March 6 too but I still don't have it available to pay. When I tried to login using my case number and invoice number after I chose the agent, it said " the case is in the process of termination and call NVC ASAP". So I think they are still processing my fees into their system. Hopefully, I've it available ASAP...

For those who sent their package already.  Does it matter or is it better to send the tax transcript from the IRS or I can just send copies of my tax that I filled out?

I should probably mention that I am having a lawyer file for me, which apparently allows us to bypass a step or two and allows us to pay both fees together once the case number is emailed out. The email was sent to my attorney and to myself. That is probably why our case number and the invoices were all sent in the same email.

I finally received a supervisor callback this morning and was told that they will send me a checklist. My father's birth certificate is missing. My father is from Taiwan and when I was preparing the documents, the website informed me that the household registrar (hu kou) is sufficient evidence for the birth certificate. But the supervisor said that is not true and that they also need actual birth certificate. Anyone here from Taiwan too?

This is really disappointing... I have been waiting for almost 4 months since Nov 15 was my scan date, and she said I have to wait another 8 weeks through the standard timeline :(

OH i feel your pain. That really suck!!!. Im in the same boat . Our original scan date is Nov 18 and we just received a checklist as well :(

CC for her on 03/07 NO PROBLEMS at all. I am still waiting on my CC my scan date is January 18th though. It doesnt matter what you send tbh ... whatever is easier for you.  Good Luck
