Consulate Review: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 10, 2017
Embassy Review : Our interview was at Riyadh Embassy on July 12, 2017 at 12:30 PM. It was an exceptionally hot day and we arrived half an hour early at the consulate so we decided to drive around for a bit and get Starbucks. At about 12:10 we went back to the embassy and this time we saw people have started to come in for the interview. We were all told to wait outside the embassy in a closed roof area with fans and water spray so it wasn’t so bad. At 12:15 we lined up and went to the one of the windows located outside of the building, there we showed them our appointment letter and turned in our car keys and cellphones. Then my husband and I walked through two different doors to go through security. Once we cleared security we walked inside the embassy. As soon as we entered a guy sitting at the counter handed us a ticket and told us to take a seat. We waited in the waiting area for about 20 minutes before our number was called in the very last window. A gentleman who appeared to be Indian looked very serious and stern; he took my husband’s appointment letter and passport and told us to have a seat again. We waited about 15 more minutes before we were called in to the same window. The guy took all the original documents and started the interview questions. We were asked basic questions like how did you meet, how long have you been married, where do you work, where you plan to live etc. after questioning he asked for nay supporting documents or pictures. Our wedding album was too big to slide through the window but luckily we had 3 small albums so we handed him that. He flipped through them a few times and then told us to have a seat again. The interview lasted for 30 minutes. Then we waited for 1 HR 30 Minutes and that wait was agonizing if I say so. Finally we were called, this time to another window. It was an American guy this time, he took my husbands oath and said congrats your visa has been approved, please walk back to my coworker’s window. We went back to the Indian guy’s window he handed us all our original documents except for my husband’s passport and the police certificate. We were told we would be contacted within two weeks to pick up the passport and with further instructions on green card fee. Luckily within a week we got a call that our passport is ready for pick up.
Rating : Good
