From what @WayneAdoresWendy said, I believe the Brazilian process is a bit different. I triple-checked, and the only moment when I'm given options like "I have received packet from Embassy and need to apply for Immigrant Visa" or "Other" is at the scheduling website.

My timeline so far is:

- 06/22: emails to petitioner from NVC with subjects "Notice regarding your immigration visa case" and "Immigration visa case has been expedited"

- 06/23: Filled the DS-160 here. No fee to be paid yet.

- 06/27: email from Brazilian consulate, sent to petitioner and beneficiary. Subject is the NVC number case and beneficiary's name, with directions to schedule the interview. In the email, they explain that you will have to choose the option "I have received a letter from the consular section with instructions to register or schedule a K visa appointment" and pay the fee only after registering at this scheduling website. And that you will need your NVC case number and the DS-160 number (so that's why you fill the DS-160 before).

I wasn't able to schedule my interview yet. It says my case is not ready. I guess it takes some time for the system to "sync".

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and timeline! I guess I'll get started on t

he DS-160. Hope to hear from them soon regarding scheduling the appointment 🙏

I saw the case as being "ready" on the nvc site and booked.

i have booked it a while away (there were earlier bookings) so I'll probably have the letter/ email before then.

But people have received the letter after their interviews too :)

Thank you:)

i believe it also depands on what kind of RFE it was...something serious or not...in our case it was orthographic mistake (yes...our fault(() so they do not need to check all documents from the beginning..so maybe its going to be faster if nothing serious to check)) but its only my hopes...maybe it will take 2 weeks..we can do nothing but wait.  wish you to get approved soon!

True. They asked for intent to marry, circumstances of meeting (both sent in the first place which makes me think they lost it?) And they suggested passport stamps as well. I didn't send them before. Thank you. You too!

Hey! If you don't mind my asking, since there is so much discussion going on about when to fill out DS-160...have you guys started on this yet? I had to use the same form to apply for my visitor's visa a couple of years back, so I believe I can just retrieve that one and update it along w our case number - once NVC contacts us and I'll get a new application number for the ds-160. But have not tried it yet. Thought I'd wait on NVC to confirm 1st.

Hi there, you can not use the same one, as I also filled in one for my trourism visa before,I called the US embassy in my country, they told me I need to do a new one since k visa is immigration visa,I can not use the same one and update it.hope it helps

I think you're good to go if you request your documemts now. My fiance also gathered all his paperwork prior to our packet 3. We didn't read anything about a validity of these documents...except the photograph and the police records, which should not be older than 6 months. FYI: We submitted the packet 3 at the embassy in Germany. Check you embassy website...perhaps you will find some detailed information specific for your country.

noted, thank you!

I've been calling every 3 days or so. So far everyone has been pleasant on the phone, except one, which had a bit of they couldn't be bothered sound to their voice. My luck so far has been my stuff taking a bit longer than others.

why my fiance has been calling 3 times a day but still can not reach NVC? Is that my number is wrong?

Here's how I do it. I call the immigrant line 603-334-0700, English, then option 5. It always says busy, call back later. You have to literally just call back to back for a minute straight or longer until it connects.

Thanks much! It did help :-) Esp in knowing that I need to chalk out more time than I previously thought, to start a fresh application.

Not sure how much (if any) the options play into it, but I selected option 7 after picking English - had a long hold but got my case number
