Hey guys,

So I went to my lawyer's office today and she gave me a copy of the delivery. I wasn't able to check it on-line but the lady at the post office said it was delivered on December 22nd. Now, the lawyer gave me a copy of my I-360 and she made a big mistake. Where it asks "Have you ever worked in the U.S. without permission?" She marked a box "YES". This is not true. I have never worked in the US without permission and I have no idea why she would state such a thing in my petition. I assume it was just a mistake but I cannot even fix anything because I don't have the number for my case since the Notice of Action never came...

This is very frustrating. Will that have a big influence on my case? ?

I would agree, you do not need to worry about it. I had the same question when I filed for my VAWA since I HAVE worked illegally since my husband would make me work and then take the money. My attorney said not to even worry about it.

I-360 filed - 10/21/2016

I-360 Prima Facie - 11/07/2016

I-485 filed - 12/06/2016

I-765 filed - 12/06/2016

One of the ladies here just told me she finally got hers and her package was delivered on 22nd, I have no clue but from what's being posted here it  sure seems like the VSC is taking longer time than usual to send NOA this month! Please can anyone help me out. Please

You probably need the results of the therapy and counseling sessions more than the final order at this point. @sandranj usually advises that you attend at least 4 to 6 sessions prior to filing your I-360 so that you can include an evaluation. And yes, you can file it concurrently except if your spouse is a LPR.

In addition to the receipt for the eye medication you also need the diagnosis or the report the doctor gave you when he/she prescribed your medication. Sorry you're going through this.

July 2011 - Applied for VAWA with I-765 and I-485 with fee waivers - receipt date Aug 4, 2011
August 10th 2011 - Received NOA's for all 3, fee waivers accepted
August 26th 2011 - Received EAD
Early July 2012 - Re-applied for EAD based on pending I-485
Mid July 2012 - Received NOA for 2nd EAD
August 1st 2012 - Received EAD
Silence for a few more months
October 26th 2012 - I-360 approval
November 19th '12 - Case transferred
May 2013 - Received interview notice

June 2013 - Interview (approved)

Permanent resident since June 2013

Hi everyone! I have been a silent reader for a while and wanted to share my timeline (which is still short for now).

12/17/16: I-360, I-485, I-765 (+ fee waiver) sent

12/19/16: received by Vermont Service Center

02/06/17: Receipt numbers received

It took 51 days for them to send the receipt numbers, so don't panic if you've been waiting for more than 30 days. They are slammed and working on it.

That was truly inspiring.  Such messages take a very long time to write.  Yours will give people hope in this thread.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thank you guys. That really helped make me a little calmer.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions but does anybody know how to take an attorney off my case? The USCIS website says you just have to write a letter stating that you will represent yourself from now on and attach your case number. Is that enough?

That's a good thing to know that we're not just going crazy. Has anyone else contacted the Ombudsman at USCIS?

I think that's exactly what you need to do. Just write a letter with all of your information and copies of any receipts or correspondence you might have received from USCIS and mail it to Vermont.

My attorney set up the G-28 to receive all notices and secured documents, I did not change my physical address but just would like to know:

Is there a way to change mailing preferences (safe address) if I want my copy of notices/documents delivered to me directly?!

Note:

I checked on USCIS: they only have options if I change lawyers or remove my lawyer from my case, but not if I keep my lawyer & change the mail preference.

Yeah, it's kind of for your own safety. I always keep on top of my attorney. I think that's why they let me know asap if they receive anything.

Thank you. I do hope so. This time 6 years ago I was considering walking in front of a bus to get away from my abusive ex-husband. Today I'm a US citizen. If there's anything I can do to provide hope to others and show that there's a lot of life to be lived after abuse and divorce I'll do it. I was heartened by previous VJ posters who posted on their journeys. It's only right that I give back and shine a light so others can see.
