This makes perfect sense, folks who have the emotional and mental stability to own and maintain property are better suited to make decisions for the good if the country. Also they are paying most of the taxes and should not be subject to a tyranny from those who want to tax us to death and not work for anything

We had people on this site believing Hillary Clinton was into human sacrifice. It's interesting how no one needs proof when it's something they want to hear.

Given this guys history, stuff like this will no doubt be the tip of the iceberg. When Glenn Beck says a guy is so far to the right it scares him, that's actually something.

You are right, and this happens on both sides. This is why there are sites like HuffPo, Salon, Breitbart, etc., so each side can go to their safe spaces.

As far as the original topic, I know a lot of people that make comments like this. Many of them tried and true Democrats. These kinds of comments always seem to come up when millage items are on the ballot. Since it would require a constitutional change to make this happen, they are for the most part just whining and complaining.

I agree with the first part. It's not likely to happen. As for the second part though, it's more than just being about complaining. This guy is going to have influence on actual policy. However small that may be, it is still a concern.

if it had been any other center right politician taking office, the small yet loudly bigoted minority wouldn't be so darn excited. political parties mean absolutely nothing to me, but i know white supremacy when i hear it. not that bannon and trump are making it rough to hone out right now..

Maybe we should look at that again..it was the law at the beginning of the country and only landowners voted until 1828.

And while we are at it we can tack on a constitutional amendment to protect the flag

Well land owners is simplistic. In reality they did not trust *us* to best make decisions for ourselves. Because, let's face it, historically people make really terrible decisions against their best interests. They didn't want democracy in it's pure form, so that's why we are supposed to be a republic. The persons had to be male, white, highly educated, tax paying, well respected, and if you fit into most of these categories chances were you owned land and had some value behind you. John Adams for instance, was an advocate to the contrary, wanting to increase the knowledge and education in all of the populace - so that they could be better informed as potential citizen voters. The uneducated and poor, they debated, could easily be swayed and bought out of desperation. What they didn't realize in those days, was that the rich could be bought in the same way. The weird sort of compromise happened in the invention of the electoral college, where we still don't vote directly for a President, but the elector (supposedly being the wise citizen or whatever) makes the final decision. It was supposed to protect us stoooopid plebs from tyrants or something, not just have a rubber stamp.

There's already one there. Comes with a fine as well as prison time. However, lawyers have rendered it in-punishable.
