Well, there are certain criteria.. I don't have the list but it's been posted on VJ before and is probably found elsewhere as well... So what most ppl do is expedite based on a job offer, because losing out a job offer can be claimed to be "severe financial loss". What you are talking about would be claiming under "financial hardship" which is kind of hard to claim since you have a sponsor..

Hi!

No news on my 3rd SR yet... I'm on day 103...

I'm thinking about trying to expedite my process, I'm currently on OPT and working, however I currently have a job offer and they don't wanna hire me on OPT. Do you think I'm able to expedite my process with a job offer on hands? Or it won't make sense when they analyze my case?
Thanks

Sounds like it makes perfect sense, both since you'll either lose your present job and/or the job offer.

edit: ofc there are no guarantees... but I'm sure you realize that. Your case can definitely be argued as financial loss though. Nobody can tell you what your adjudicator will decide on, but good luck :)

Meanwhile, I went to the SS office today to have my name changed and surprise surprise (but not actually a surprise) they were unable to process it.

The agent hit submit before asking me to confirm the information and he spelled my married name wrong so of course it doesn't match the DHS records.

He could tell I was annoyed (not specifically at him bc human error happens) so he tried to tell me that it's because my ID has my full middle name and the EAD card only has the initial.  I don't know how accurate that is, but boy, I'm so over this nonsense.

Hopefully my employer will underatand why the everify request comes back as SSN mismatch.

And here's hoping this doesn't take 8 weeks to resolve.

I can't catch a break with the social security stuff but at least the rest of the process is going along without a hitch.

Awwww I'm so sorry that must been soooo frustrating after waiting for so long! But I wonder how difficult is your married name for them to misspelled it? Some employee are soo careless! They need to verify everything first before submitting it and make sure that there was no mistake in the information they put it the system. Anyway I hope they can resolve it soon. 8 weeks is already a torture!!! I'm hoping you don't need to wait that long!!!

USCIS Suspends Premium Processing for all H-1B Petitions Filed On or After April 3, 2017

USCIS has suspended its premium processing service for all H-1B petitions filed on or after April 3, 2017. This suspension applies to all H-1B petitions filed on or after April 3, 2017, including H-1B extension and amendment petitions, this fiscal year’s H-1B cap cases, and all H-1B cap-exempt cases.  According to USCIS, the suspension may last up to six months.

Premium processing will still be available for any H-1B cases filed prior to April 3, 2017.  According to USCIS, the suspension of premium processing is being implemented to help reduce overall H-1B processing times, which are running several months and up to 1 year in some cases. USCIS states it will also prioritize processing of H-1B extension petitions that are approaching being pending for 240 days, since the automatic extension of employment authorization is effective for only 240 days following the prior petition’s H-1B expiration date.

uuuhh... oh no.. *sigh*

Well.. I'm also currently waiting on my name-updated SSN... but mine is as you know by now never verified right away hahahaha it does not fit in the field... it was returned from SAVE to the SSA on Friday though.. sooo I'm hoping it'll be sent soon... Also... I believe you have some time to resolve SSN issues after being hired... I can't remember atm, was a while since I read that part. I think also that you can go t the SSO and get a letter from them to give to the employer if it can't be resolved through e-verify. The letter would say that you are confirmed. Research it though... but I believe it's so.

I know when I was looking at e-verify before I read about that.  The lawyer I will be working for asked me a whole bunch of

questions about the immigration policy, so I'm sure she'll be able to understand and I def got the letter from the SS office because I refuse to have to go back there, especially when my troubles are through no fault of mine.

One day, this will all just be a memory I can laugh at.

Your citizenship clock is ticking.  3 years less a few days ?

I just found out that I can still apply for the Travel Document and wave the fee because my I-485 is still pending.

Note: You do not need to pay an additional fee for Form I-131 if:

  • You are filing Form I-131 Application Type B or D;
  • You filed a Form I-485 with a fee on/after July 30, 2007; and
  • Your Form I-485 is still pending.

Has anybody tried this? Thanks for your replies :) I am still wondering if I should do it or not.

We sent in our response to the RFIE yesterday. We sent it express because it seemed like a good idea, and clearly I wasn't prepared for how much sending things that way costs here because the total ($37) made me yell "WHOA" so loudly that it echoed in the post office.  Hopefully it speeds things up even a little bit, though, and that we get an update soon. The waiting is driving me crazy.

Goodluck!
