Really? Some parts of the forms I had to fill out by hand. For example my name because it didn't fit, and the apartment number because for some reason it wouldn't let me add it on the computer. And some parts of the I-864 too... now that's discouraging.

For this process... I think only the i-864 and the i-131 are affected... don't think the i-485 has the 2D barcode.. and yes was the same for me with apartment number..

This could be a reason for the huge recent increase in i-864 rfe's on VJ.

Guys, about the I-864 not registering the numbers, it's because they use a 2D barcode to scan the data.

That means the form has to be completed either entirely by computer or entirely by hand. If you mix, they'll see the first page is computer-printed and they'll scan the whole form, and the handwritten information won't be captured. That's why the RFE was generated. You need to resend the I-864 with all the required documentation, and make sure you complete it entirely by computer or entirely by hand. I had no trouble filling it on computer using Adobe Reader, the household size numbers worked fine.

Thank you. This explains it! I did half and half the first time.

Downloaded it in the Adobe Reader and its all in type now!

Hi guys

I had the same problem that couldn't fill some information online on the forms and then I realized iOS was to blame. Filled everything again in a windows computer.

I have the same feeling that some of you have been expressing, I hate to be dependent. I'm keeping my Mexican credit card for emergencies but the exchange rate is killing me. I'm gonna try to get a secured card with a water bill and my name change in the marriage certificate. Also in california you're able to drive as a tourist with a foreign license... the problem is I'm not a tourist, and I'm expecting to get some lecture if an officer ever stops me. But what am I expected to do?? It's silly that they let us come in with a K1 visa but don't let us work, drive, or basically exist as a normal person.

I've been reading October thread and they're getting their EAD cards, so it's safe to say we can expect them the second part of January and during February.

Ok.. so i just realized that when you fill it out in the chrome browser.... it doesn't even add the 2D barcode.... so I wonder if that just voids the form completely or if they then scan the form as a regular non 2D barcode form...

edit: website reads "You are not required to complete the 2D barcoded forms electronically".... so if my form didn't have a barcode... it should be scanned as a handwritten form I assume... So still hope lol... omg... this process is killing me... can someone please distract me with a funny story or chocolate or SOMETHING b4 I loose my mind?

Am now cursing wherever I read that info... since you are right faust..

https://www.uscis.gov/forms-filing-tips

meaning I will be expecting an rfe .... *sigh* oh well :protest::oops:

That's the page where I saw it. Couldn't remember where it was, but I'd read it in there.

Use the page 12 of the form to add the information that won't fit. You can use as many page-12s as you need to make sure they have all the info.

For this process... I think only the i-864 and the i-131 are affected... don't think the i-485 has the 2D barcode.. and yes was the same for me with apartment number..

This could be a reason for the huge recent increase in i-864 rfe's on VJ.

Yeah, I have a gut feeling this was the culprit... At least we have the fix now :)

Thank you. This explains it! I did half and half the first time.

Depends on whether or not Chrome will vanish the barcode completely or if it keeps the default one that translates into "blank form".

I've been reading October thread and they're getting their EAD cards, so it's safe to say we can expect them the second part of January and during February.

OMG that is absolutely good news :) :) :) !! Now I have no idea how i would go to work since I don't know how to drive T.T lol omg this is like a game.

Clau I know how you feel. This process has made me incredibly stressed and anxious hah. It's so overwhelming that I can't help but cry. I keep worrying about getting a RFE (which I'm sure I will) and I keep telling myself to calm down. Not being able to do anything is driving me crazy! Plus yesterday was my niece's bday and I am very homesick :( Soon it'll be my first Christmas and bday without my family. Sorry everyone for using this as a diary lol.

I knooooow, me too. But It's good to read about others stories and know that we are not alone :) I don't know what to do for New year's eve because I have always been with my family watching fireworks from any tall building. Here in florida there are no buildings at all lol.

Awwww I'm i your position as my b-day is Jan 1st.... We've always had special traditions for it seeing since it's the day after New Years and with the risk of sounding like a spoiled kid (lol) It's been "my special day". I'm gonna miss those traditions... but hopefully we can start brand new ones instead :)(L)

Happy birthday in advance!

I think I will too.

Thank you. This explains it! I did half and half the first time.

Downloaded it in the Adobe Reader and its all in type now!

I think we both have the same priority date, December 7th. Our package was received at the Chicago office on November 21st and check was cashed on Dec 7th. We never received email or text, but received four letters on Dec 13th

We didn't send our W2, we didn't understand what we needed to send and mistakenly only sent 1040 that we had from turbo tax.

But we did send along with both of ours 1040, some of our pay stubs, I sent four paystubs for my last two months, wife sent four paystubs but those only covered one month as she gets paid every week. Those paystubs do mention our year to date income.

We also sent her savings account statement. Both my wife and I earn in six digits, she is a pharmacist, I'm an engineer, it will be sad to get RFE for this overlook.

Fortunately we didn't receive any RFE mail yet. Our I-485 USCIS case status is still "Fingerprint Fee Was Received", it states "On December 5, 2016, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your I-485,...", but have not received biometric appointment letter yet.

I am hoping we would not receive any RFE for this, someone stated that sometime they just let us know to bring the necessary docs with us at the AOS interview. We will see.

Regardless, we are hopeing for the best and preparing for the worse. We ordered and received our last four years of IRS transcripts just in case we get a RFE, we don't want one more week to wait to reply, and most likely we will need them anyway during the interview.

Good luck with your application, it's sad that it might delay your application, hope they would process your application as soon as they receive your documents.
