You are absolutely correct. However the money I'm getting is for a 'business buyout' of a company we owned together and this was to avoid taxes. We don't have to pay taxes if it's a business buyout :)

Great! One less thing to worry about.

I am not trying to give old information or to scare anyone, simply to be prapared that you might not be in control of what happens at the interview regardless of your K1-package... What I was referring to just happened this fall... One case in our March thread regarding a male fiancé at the Casablanca embassy

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=227407

read in this thread

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/607683-casablanca-consulate-k1-interview/?hl=%2Bnikkito+%2Binterview+%2Bcasablanca#entry8282373

and another with a female fiancée put in AP with no answers... The embassy doesn't answer calls or emails and I know both of them had good solid K1 applications... Simply be prepared.. If everything does go smoothly, then that's just great! :)

I was by no means saying K-1's in Morocco are easy. But, I keep seeing, over and over, people advising that they are next to impossible in Morocco. Yes, they are difficult, but compared to many years ago, when nearly every K-1 was denied, the odds have gotten better. I have read through ALL of the consulate reviews, starting with the oldest, and there has been a significant upswing in K-1 approvals. I'm not trying to give anyone false hope, but the OP has been living there with her fiancé for close to a year.... that's very good evidence for her, so when I see people say "ditch the k-1, and marry to apply for the CR-1; that's your only way," it's a sort of fear-mongering that's truly unnecessary. I know the Consulate seemingly will deny or hold someone in AP for ages, but they are doing their job. They, thankfully, denied my ex a K-1, and shortly thereafter, his true colors shined bright and clear. I do feel for anyone that gets denied, or gets held-up for AP, but again, a K-1 denial in Morocco is no longer a 99% for-sure thing. This process is stressful enough, as is, without people on here advising a certain route is futile, thereby giving others more stress and anxiety about their decision.

My husband and a friend of ours, applied for their ROC last year, both were held in security checks well past the "average" time frame, but someone else we know (who lives/works in a different city from his wife) was quickly approved.... so, the waiting and AP, really doesn't stop at the Consulate.

I wish everyone going through this process the best outcome!

I like that you're positive and I hope you are correct. I don't blame the Consulate for doing their job. They have a lot of responsibility to correctly identify true relationships from false ones, good people from bad, etc. Of course everyone should be realistic in that this is not an exact science and the CO's are not perfect- sometimes they may deny a couple who really should receive it and approve a couple who doesn't. In my case, I believe that we just have to remain positive and confident that we have a very strong case and that there is no question that we have an amazing relationship that can survive either outcome.

I completely agree! I've just recently gotten very frustrated seeing an individual post (in multiple K-1 related threads, for various countries) that the OP should give-up on their K-1, get married, and apply for CR-1. I understand that that was that person's experience, but that does not apply for everyone from all countries. If I had found this site prior to applying for my ex, and I had seen that K-1's were virtually impossible at that time in Morocco, I may have gone and gotten married, and been in a world of trouble with him....I just really want people to read through the reviews, from oldest to newest, see the changes themselves, and not take the naysayers so seriously. Yes, it is difficult. Yes, it is hard. But for many individuals, the K-1 is the best option for various reasons. And, yes, some true relationships get denied, but On-the-other-hand.... I've seen, over the years, some "true" relationships crumble after a denial. My husband and I used to say before his approval, "We must be optimistic, but realistic." That's our take on the whole "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst." Every couple is different. The CO's do their research and I'm sure they have access to on-line and other information, that we would not dream possible thereby making a decision that they believe is valid. Some people slip through the cracks on both sides (true and false relationships), but, let's say the CO accessed the beneficiary communicating with others online, either at the beginning of their relationship with their petitioner, or well into the relationship... I'm sure that would raise an eyebrow. You never will know what they saw to make the denial, but they obviously saw something. Every Journey is different, so people really need to do their research and know their future spouse inside and out. If it's a true relationship, people will find a way, despite any obstacles put in their way. I was getting prepared to move to Morocco to be with my husband, had he been denied. One must always have a back-up plan. Sorry to vent. Maybe I shouldn't have, but that kind of stress that I see that person causing for others is just so hard to see.... Best of luck!

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that person means well.

I did not anywhere advise such a thing. I was stating that CR-1 is preffered at the embassy, meaning a higher rate of approvals. That is simply the truth. Of course they are doing their job, no one has said otherwise. I feel as if there is a lot of " reading between the lines" here. I said what I meant, and I meant what I said. Simple really. Being prepared for the truth to a situation is not fear mongering. I would always prefer to know what I am up against personally, rather than being lulled into false sense of comfort. To each their own, I will continue to advise to the reality of situations, as this is what I would myself prefer to be informed of.

EDIT: and I don't see how that is being negative... Staying positive isn't in anyway in contrast to what I have said... OP I wsih you the very best of good luck in your K1-journey!

Don't know why the "whoa" I was simply clarifying... however next time that you are not referring to something someone says, maybe you shouldn't quote them? ;)

You quoted what I was trying to convey about the increase of approvals over the years (as there was a typical comment from someone else, that seemed to get the OP worked up-unnecessarily in my opinion), addressing what I stated w/ more negativity. My apologies for having chosen your quote. I should know better by now that tensions do run high on here. There is an individual that has been posting on many, many K-1 threads, regardless of country, that the OP's of those threads will definitely get denied, that they are wasting their time, and should cancel it to get married and file for CR-1 (as that's the only way)..... I got frustrated and wanted to convey to this OP, to relax a little bit; that every case is different. She seemed to have understood.

Now that we are kind of off-topic.... I'd like to get back on track for the OP.... There is always the possibility of denial, or for AP, or for more documentation. Some will say the K-1 is a waste of time, I've been on here long enough to have seen a positive change @ Casablanca. Will it work for everyone? No. Will every K-1 get denied? Not anymore. Always have a back-up plan that both you and your partner are OK with.

OP, regarding your questions, a) your documentation about your divorce, seems better than many that have been in your shoes. b) the fact that you are living there and your family has visited and met his family, is amazing! My friends and family could only meet my husband on Skype. c) having a co-sponsor is usually OK.

Again, my apologies for my errors in this discussion.

I am happy to hear from everyone, even if it were someone telling me outright that we will fail! I haven't been offended by anyone's comments to me- I'm thankful for all of them: good, bad or ugly!

I know we are very lucky to be able to live together, be with his family and also have our families meet! We are here in Morocco together and we are content. Of course, I don't want to have to visit my family and friends in the US by myself and of course we both believe that we will be able to give our future children a better life in the US. But either way, we are happy and will continue to be.

For others that can't be together unless they get a visa- I think this is the real challenge and I can totally see how this could potentially make or break a relationship.

Thank you to everyone that responds/ has responded :)

Haha why thank you! I think that from what it seems, some people on here (not talking about anyone on this thread), but on others believe they are now qualified to be immigration attorneys or the foremost experts on the topic.... just for what it's worth, everyone's case is different so no matter how we all come to our conclusions based on our experiences, we should keep in mind that we are only offering our opinions and we are not and should not be the judges (thank goodness) for who gets approved or who doesn't.

Phew, this felt really good to say!
