N-400 July 2016 Filers

Just added myself, please count me in! Good luck to all of us July filers. Wishing a quick and smooth process to all of us

Quick question tho, I realized this right after we mailed out N-400 application form. Hubby and I been married for 5 years however I only been here for 3.5 years. Do you guys think we choose the right route? We applied for 3 years marriage based. Now I am so worried about my application if we did the right one or not.

Based on the info you provided, you have been in the USA and had your green card for more than 3 years but less than 5 years.

Therefore if you apply now, you need to apply based on the "naturalization based on marriage to a US citizen"

Has anyone else heard of the big wait times / cases being stuck with these new IOE case numbers?

Apparently, N-400 applicants who used the new form (posted online in April, I believe) are given an IOE case number instead of an NBC number. N-400 applicants who submit the old form get a NBC case number.

It seems that although the form has been used by applicants since April, no-one has received an interview date yet or have their case status "in line for interviewing". Meanwhile, NBC numbers (ie the applicants who submitted the old form) seem to be processed very fast.

It seems that IOE folks' cases aren't moving past biometrics while NBC folks' cases speed ahead!

USCIS web site says that from 10/1, the old forms will not be accepted. Hopefully they stick to this deadline (they've already extended it once before).

Someone with the same concern just posted an update on Trackitt. Hopefully, this will make you feel better

"Here is an update based my call with Level 2 officer yesterday.

I requested the customer service to transfer me to level 2 officer as I wanted to check on the status of the application. This nice lady from level 2 called me after couple of hours and I asked her about the status. She checked my details and said that they are waiting for a date to schedule the interview. I asked her that my status on the website shows that "Biometrics Appointment Was Scheduled", and she told me that system might not be always up to date.

Based on the above, here is what I interpret.

1. I think the USCIS has not setup automatic status changes for receipt numbers starting with IOE, because it is an external user facing systems and might not be high priority for them.

2. Same goes for ELIS, it might be some third party system that the USCIS has purchased and asking the officers to use, and there would be learning curve for them.

3. I assume internally they still have the same SLA's for IOE or NBC and will schedule the interviews based on the local office time lines.

I am not suggesting you should call. I thought sharing this might provide all of us a sigh of relief.

After waiting for the adjudication of the Removal of Conditions on my Green Card for over 1 year and 1 month I still haven't heard anything, despite several service requests and countless calls to T2 officers. Basically they just tell me to wait. Now, I thought that by filing my N-400 that would help a little with the adjudication of my I-751 case but... Surprise! There's a new N-400 form and a brand new backlog. Unbelievable!

I got an IOE number. How was I supposed to know?! Man oh man. What a broken immigration system. I don't even know what to do. I feel like I've been waiting forever now with my Green Card application and now this N-400 backlog. wow.

Yes I noticed the same thing. Hopefully they will start scheduling more interviews. But even if they have just started scheduling interviews for people with IOE numbers, they still have to go through the entire month of April, May, June and July to get to us. And that's only so that we may have an interview date approximately 4 months in the future. So let' prepare to wait and wait some more.

Went for biometrics today. Was a pleasant experience other than the security check. Hubs had to remove his shoes, belt, watch, phone, keys and other electronics just like an airport check.

They seem to have an updated system for fingerprinting now. The last time I did biometrics for removal of conditions they used ink and stuff. Now it's all digitalized and you print your fingers on a screen after having them wet it prior. Took less than an hour to be done with, including the wait times.

My son 's 18 birthday is in late January 2017,so i hope to have the citizenship before that date.But with the elections coming on soon,USCIS has been flooded with more applications than normal and things will probably progress slowly .
