I have went to an InfoPass appointment on Monday 08/01/2016 and I was informed that we will not see any big movment beyond the FP stage until January. Their goal is to clear out the NBC cases by the end of the year and then start fresh with the IOE and start scheduling appointment.

This sucks!

At faster offices, like Columbus, Cleveland, and Buffalo, this could be bad news because you could have expected to be interviewed 3 months after applying. However, in many other offices, you wouldn't get an interview until 5-7 months from the application date anyway, so you would have waited until December-February in any case.

Also, since in almost all cases (but not all) NBC applications have earlier priority dates than IOE applications (because most people started using the new form at the same time) each office would have handled the NBC cases first anyway. The difference here, and the real slowdown, is if IOE applications at faster offices (which have finished all their NBC applications) will continued to be held up until all NBC applications are done. I don't think that's the case, because we are starting to see IOE applications scheduled for interviews already at some offices.

So I think that if you applied at a fast field office, you may see a slight delay (maybe a month or so) if you have an IOE number. If you applied at a slower office, you probably won't notice a change over the timelines of those who applied last year.

My NOA was on Jul 22 and I received the letter July 28. On July 28, my online status says the my biometrics has been scheduled but I have yet to receive the FP notice. I noticed most people received their FP notice soon after the NOA letter mail. Wondering what happened to mine....what's the typical timeframe between getting the NOA and receiving FP notice?

So weird I think I took the most recent documents to file for citizenship but I received a NBC number. But I guess that's better anyways. Mhmm... Good luck everyone. Does anybody know how much time will be between getting the letter for the interview appointment and the actual interview appointment? Thanks

I also signed up for online account and did FP already but i didnt have any notification on the FP online nor I can find the FB notice on my online account.. Weird.

Is this site only for people with IOE numbers? I created an account, but it says I need an access code from the Welcome to USCIS ELIS letter, which I never received. My understanding is that that letter is sent to people who filed online. I (had my lawyer file) filed under an NBC number. Thanks.

Argh. Still no FP in the mail since USCIS said my biometrics has been scheduled. It has been a week since they said the appointment letter was mailed. Unable to find a downloadable letter. Getting worried since many people got their FP notices in the mail few days after the NOA.

I didn't file online. I filled in the paper version and posted it in. The letter I got about setting up an account using their access code came about a week after my credit card was charged. But, I do have an IOE receipt number. But I don't understand the IOE/NBC thing people are referring to.

You can't file N-400 online yet, but will be able to soon.

IOE is the first 3 letters on receipt notices that are processed at the Integrated Operating Environment. This is a computer system used to process cases, part of ELIS (or otherwise interacts with ELIS, not sure the details). Overall they are trying to digitize the whole USCIS process slowly over time (taking longer than they expected and more $$$) and the first ones to be done are I-90 and soon N-400.

If you filed with the new N-400 form, even though it's still paper, it's being digitized and put into this system. Since you have an IOE #, you did this. Benefits to this is all your notices, including Finger Print and Interview Notices show up online. You an also respond to Requests for Evidence online and upload documents, cutting down on time to go back and forth between customer and USCIS (that's the goal anyway).

NBC which is National Benefits Center was the receipt number given on the previous application editions that didn't use this new system.

People have noticed that the old forms are going faster, and the easiest way to see if someone filed with the old forms is their receipt number starts with NBC. So people talk about filing IOE/NBC when discussing their timeline.

Does that clear up your confusion?

Is there a noticeable difference in processing time at this stage? From what I understood when I filed the form, I would expect to get citizenship within 5ish months so has that changed much do we know?
