My wife's visa case was in administrative processing in Accra, Ghana for almost a year. The embassy said that they would contact us after they are finished with their review. However, we were not contacted by the embassy for any evidence or regarding the next steps to take. I just checked online and it says our case expiring soon and everything has been canceled. I do not understand what is going on. I thought spousal visa application does not expire. What does this mean? I have no idea what to make of this. I have contacted my senator and he will request a status update from the embassy. (I've attached a picture of the statement) Thank you. I just need some kind of explanation on what this means.

You need to make contact at least once a year to keep it active. Have you contacted the embassy yourself to see what the status is?

Yes. I've been sending them an emailed almost every two weeks for about 9 months now and havent gotten a single reply. Not a single reply. From what i read they are backlogged and are busy so there is no one to reply emails.

The Ghana embassy is a total mess, they tell people to send emails in case of any issue and no one is available to answer....I hope your senator can get these people respond

I would go there or call. Reach out or you will have to start all over.

Have your senator make a status inquiry and request to extend it, though usually they automatically extend it after emails but with Ghana

one never knows. They will have to answer the senator's aid and then you have proof that you did stay in touch.

I just had this issue, when is spoke to NVC they said as long as I had proof of sending emails to the embassy I would be fine, I had my senator email them and they responded and said they would do a review, but I'm in NOIR status my case is at my local uscis office some I'm waiting on that review also, so once my case went to DHS it updated my case back to administrative processing, so everything is gonna depend on what they are gonna do with your petition, O and they also called my husband back to the embassy for another interview and that is when she said was sending his case back this happened after the review as per request by my senator

If you've gotten zero reply from the emails, that's means nobody is seeing them or updating nothing. Call them. Their email is back logged to medusa days. Call them and talk to someone that way you have a record of communication. Sorry it has taken this long.

Thanks everyone. The status has changed back to AP. I hope it will change to ready this week. From what I've been reading, seems like this is a precursor to a visa issued status. At least I pray so.

It's sad because I spoke to one of the consulars in Ghana when I made an appointment with American services and she admitted that the email system is backlogged I then told her that their system is non-functional and she laughed and agreed. My fiance only received a email response because I got my congresswoman involved. But it's like they have no plan to correct the system it almost seems intentional, but that's just my opinion.
