On the NYC thread the average for AOS looks like it is around 10months (that's people not here on fiancé visas)

Yeah, we've resigned ourselves to not going to England any time soon. Our Son is 2 in Feb but we're not expecting anything by even then (didn't apply for AP, not worth the risk since I've been here 3 years) plus it works out much more financially feasible to just fly family in.

When you go to the USCIS website you can actually see how long it might take for your office.

Scroll down on case status and then select "uscis processing times information".

At the bottom of that page you can select your office.

NYC here, so it will take them close to a year to get around to it.

Or maybe I'm wrong here, but that's what it seems like to me.

Got a status update today as well, only mine is 'a request for initial evidence was mailed'. On the I-485. Thought I had sent all there was to send. And RFIE makes more sense; this sounds like they haven't received any evidence.

Yes, it's kind of a bummer, I was hoping that period had passed as well.

We're traveling; now I just want to go home and take care of this. Let's hope the best for all of us who got these kind of requests.

Hopefully, the RFIE notices will arrive in the post soon so you can work through them and continue to progress - we'll all get there eventually Hopefully, shouldn't be too long a deviation! If you have any questions then I'm sure there knowledge base on the forums will be able to help!

Aye, I'm expecting an RFIE any day now and I am travelling (we're travelling on the West Coast vs our mailing address on the East Coast). We'll have to get somebody to email a photograph of the letter and then mail over the original as we won't be back home until October.

A similar situation was particularly fun when we were sent our biometrics appointment notice. We were away for that so my wife's mother opened our post and text a picture of the the biometrics letter. Notably, a printed version of that photograph was accepted for our walk-in ASC in Chicago (our original appointment was on the East Coast). At the time, I was unsure whether the photograph would be accepted due to the barcode not coming out too well on our photo of the biometrics letter. The ASC Technician accepted the printout and took my fingerprints; however, I'm unsure if she scanned the bar code on the appointment letter or whether they typed a code in manually... hence why we'll want the original RFIE to be sent over in the mail too so we can have a physical version and guarantee the quality of any photocopies.

It's all based on your local office... some local office are very quiet and can schedule you an interview as soon as hey recieve your documents some local offices are 2-3minths backlogged some are a year backlogged... It all depends on how busy your local office is so its not a good or bad thing it's just based off the volume of applicants in your area

In a bored and idle few minutes, I have put together some arguably meaningless descriptive statistics.

I pulled 600 cases around my case number (400 numerically below my case numbers and 200 above). A lot of those were filings of a I-485, I-131, I-765, I-130, etc. All of these had the same filing date (or near enough) as mine in the first few days of June.

Just looking at the I-485s, I came out with the following statistics. They statistics will be fairly meaningless because i) some of these cases won't be AOS'ing from a K1 like me, and ii) the cases will be at different Local Case Offices with different processing times.

*presumably the I-485 waivers are due to asylum requests (namely 10A and 10B here). Again this highlights a fair few different types of cases.

Also, here are the following for the I-765 and I-131s. Notably, a lot fewer I-131s are being processed than I-765s which makes sense given that people probably don't anticipate leaving the country but do anticipate working. Again, not all of these will be adjustments from K1 like me. These are just intended to highlight that there is basically very progress on EAD and Advance Parole is progress is being made which is what we should expect given the experiences of people in the April and May filers groups. We're not being left behind Simon.
