hello guys. so recently, i have been looking for a job and fortunately (i guess at that time), subway gave me a call in less than 24 hours after doing an online application. then i did my first interview and the manager said she was satisfied with my answer and all that and told me that she will give me a call within that day for my second interview with the district manager. so i waited the rest of the day for her call and i didn't get any from her. so the next day, i dragged my husband with me to go and ask the manager what's the spiel and she said that she already forwarded my application to the district managers office but theyre still deciding whether to contact me or not because i havent receive my green card yet. i did show to my first interviewer my visa which contains the i-551 stamp (im under CR1). (i guess they didnt know about it and just focused on the stamped on my passport stating valid until october of this year). anyway, i did give the manager a phone call after that response telling her that I am eligible to work and told her about the spiel using the USCIS site and added that I have my SSN already. She just told me that she will let the district manager know about it and thats it. Makes me wonder what to do though if i will ever get a response from them or not. :/

The best thing you can do is to keep looking and applying for jobs and not just sit and wait to hear from this job.

thats what i am trying to do right now but makes me wonder though since it is just the green card they said as their issue and i shouldnt have that because i have i-551 and SSN.

Big companies have strict guidelines for hiring that may not follow your particular situation. In addition there may be district guidelines that are more restrictive than what the law allows.

As others have indicated - keep applying to places (smaller businesses seem more likely to hire you), and after you receive your official green card, it looks like you will have no problem finding a job. Good luck!

thanks for that. i will continue looking for one. i just hope that they would consider the stamp i have as it is valid supposedly. and my green card isnt in possession yet because they made an error with my maiden name so i returned it and currently waiting for it.

Same here.. I have been sending applications online and had a call then interview but they wanted a green card or EAD since I'm on K1.. I am still on the AOS process and I can't wait to have a job now.. I still been looking on the websites for jobs.. But on your case, I think it depends on the companies. I have read some posts that they were able to get a job and just showed the stamp. Maybe try to find companies that will allow you to work thru your stamp.. Goodluck!

Yes, legally I am able to work but for k1 there are limitations and I need to comply it first. I have been doing multiple interviews but still they have the same reply to me to have GC or EAD.. I am just been doing volunteers or joining filipino organizations in the area. At least, I am not bored at home hehe

well in this area where i am at, i rarely bump to filipino so it is actually hard for me to get through all these and not being able to get ahold of some fellow filipinos who have already tried working over here.

No legally you are not allowed to work without the EAD.

The OP however, has a green card, as the endorsed visa is a temporary green card valid for 1 year and it's illegal to discriminate against them for hiring purposes.

Hi when my wife first arrived here last year and went looking for a job they told her they need to see the official Gc not the passport stamp

it doesn't make sense because its the government that stated that its legal to work over here with that stamp and https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-9.pdf states the documents you needed to present your legality to qualify for it. and i know its better to just keep on looking for other job vacancies but i fear that this instance right here would likely occur again to the other potential jobs i will apply to.

Some companies, I guess especially those that aren't used to hiring foreigners, don't know how the stamped CR/IR-1 visa works. I got a job four works after immigrating and had no issues with just my passport and SSN. I don't know what work history you have but try the hotel industry. Hotels are always looking for people and most will have some foreign workers, so they're familiar with the process. Hotels have positions such as maids, waiters, Starbucks cashiers, receptionists as well as more qualified positions such as accounting, HR and management.

i am in the medical field but i am just applying as clerks and what not for the time being. thanks for the info about hotel jobs. i will look on that.
