Hello everyone!

My fiancé is flying this coming up month, we are both so excited!! However, I have so many questions in regards to vaccines and him getting a SS#.. are the vaccines necessary for him to apply for adjustment of status and will they work if he gets them in our country? Also, to apply for SS# once he arrives do we have to have a marriage certificate or we can apply before getting married?? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Congrats to everyone who got approved!!

Can't say anything about the vaccines, maybe someone else can. As far as the SS # your fiance can apply for that before you two get married. You'll need to bring his most recent I-94 which you can print off from online, the filled out application for a SS #, and his passport. Some say bring the birth certificate, but others didn't bring it and they have gotten their SS card no problem.

Good luck!

No marriage certificate is needed. In my case it even works the other way, Idaho requires an SS# to get married :)

I went to get it before we got married, brought my birth certificate, the passport, the most recent I94 and filled the ss-5. I got the receipt and they said I can use it to get married YAY.

Now we are worried about doing so because the marriage license has to have something there in the ss# field. What if I don't have it until then and get it later? What will the license say, would it cause us any problems and what can we do about it later?

We printed I-94 and applied same day as POE. It took about 4 weeks to get a notice from SS. We got card about 3 days after that, so it took about 4 1/2 weeks for us. Just like the K1 visa, I don't think there is a standard time when you receive it. Most of the times I have seen fall somewhere between 2 and 5 weeks.

It's not valid for work unless you have either EAD or green card.

Not sure about the marriage question as our state only required Passport and Birth certificate, not an SS#.
