Hi, our case was approved last week. I've checked the status and it says on 4/15/16, our case is off to the NVC.

I have some questions that hopefully some people can help with.

1. I was going to call the NVC today to ask for our case number (a friend who has gone through this process advised that), but if they just sent it on the 15th, do I wait?

2. Once I get the case number, from what I understand, I go through the ds260 (I think that's right?) online? And then my husband, who is in England, does the ds261? (He will be here in America in 6 days for a 3 week visit, by the way, so probably can do this when he gets here - haven't been able to see each other for 6 1/2 months).

3. When do we pay the fee the NVC needs? Do they let us know how to pay? How much is it for this fee?

4. I have a joint sponsor and he needs to know exactly what he needs to get together - I have read a lot, but I'm still a bit confused - is it ALL paperwork from last 3 years of taxes or just top sheet or what? And which form does he fill out and which form do I fill out? He is married, but his wife has no part in this regarding her finances, right? He makes plenty of money to be the joint sponsor.

I think that's all for now. Well, besides him flying in this coming Sunday, April 24th. He is afraid of being put in a secondary room - no reason to be afraid, of course, but I want to be sure that all his documents are in order: has his ID, passport, all those things, but also has a letter from his boss saying where he works (unfortunately, the boss did not say on the paper when he is to be coming back, but has the phone number on it), will have his last bank statement showing he still has connections there, the approval letter from the USCIS saying our case was approved for NVC, and our marriage certificate from when we got married last year. Good enough?

Thanks for any / all help!

Tam

2: No, the order is: DS-261 (choice of agent) & AOS fee ($120), then, once that's processed, IV fee ($325), and once that's processed the intending immigrant does the DS-260 (application).

3: See above. Both forms and both payments can be done via NVC's website (payment by electronic check). You'll get the first invoice (for the AOS fee) with your NVC welcome letter (or if you call) and then when it's processed you'll get an email with the other invoice and the fee will be unlocked for payment on their website.

1 ) wait for 2 weeks

2) once you get case and IIN , submit DS 261(choice of agent ) - AOS fees - pay that - review ds261 with nvc to open IV fee - pay that - send both IV and AOS packages (in one big package ) - submit DS 260 (beneficiary )

3) AOS -$120 , IV - $325
4) can't say much about that , please read the nvc stage docs http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

he should be fine , all he needs is a return ticket or an employment letter

Congrats on getting to the next stage! I agree, the NVC page, and also the Visajourney NVC link mentioned are both great sources of info. I feel so much better prepared having read them myself although I'm a bit behind you timing wise.

Would love to see your timeline, as would others I'm sure. Any chance you feel like filling in and linking your timeline for us all?

Oh! Thank you all for more responses.

Yes, I will definitely fill out a timeline. Just super swamped and getting ready for my sweetheart to come home on Sunday.

It took 4 months and 5 days from when the USCIS received my I-130 (I also stuffed it with lots of "evidence" of our marriage - I know there's debate on doing that or not. I chose to do it.) We got no RFE. Everything went smoothly and I would like to do a youtube video of how I put the package together at some point. I spoke with an attorney after I was done and sent it off and she was quite pleased about how I went about it and actually said she couldn't have done any better, but if we want to hire her at NVC stage, we can. Still debating that. My only thing right now today not knowing (Oh, and there will be more, I'm sure lol):

1. Do I send in his joint sponsor's paperwork and tax returns or does the joint sponsor?

2. When he comes to America in 5 days for the 3 weeks, can he do the online stuff here with me (ds260 right?)?

3. Since I packed the I-130 with tons of pictures, all our facebook PMs, emails, etc., do I need to submit that stuff again or no? I also was divorced before and submitted the divorce papers as they requested, but I read on the .gov site that at this next stage if there were any divorces, you have to submit that. Does that mean again? I don't want to overload them with duplicates.

Thanks again, Tam

1: The sponsor should send it to you so you can mail everything together.

2: He can do the online stuff anywhere.

3: Don't worry about overloading them with duplicates. If it says to send it again, send it again. You'll also need to send the marriage certificate again (for example). No need for pictures, facebook, emails, etc. at this stage however.
