Case status for Oath Ceremony says I did not appear

My wife's case status was just updated today and it claims she didn't appear for her oath ceremony, however we never received a letter with a date for a ceremony. Just last week I checked the status and it still said "placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling." If she was actually scheduled wouldn't there be a status saying so? What have others experienced?

This is with the Washington Field office btw which seems to be the slowest one of them all.

How do you go about rescheduling the ceremony?

I would make an Infopass and discuss the matter face-to-face.

Does the uscis send an email/text notification when they schedule the oath ceremony? We never received any notice.

They must have sent the letter and it either got lost or (my money is on this one) it hasn't arrived yet... USCIS is terrible about scheduling last minute ceremonies and several people have received their letters the night before, the morning of, or after the ceremony. Usually, USCIS figures it out and automatically sends a new letter, so there may be one on the way. But it is odd that they updated your status as they did... keep an eye on it and see if you are placed inline once again.

They don't always update the status after the Inline for oath stage (or sometimes after the scheduled for interview stage) so don't rely on that.

I would make an Infopass and discuss the matter face-to-face.

I agree. OP: schedule an infopass for the next available appointment, but also call today and explain what happened... some applicants in the same situation have managed to resolve this on the phone. Ask them to mail you a new letter.

Well we made an infopass appointment. They in fact verified that NO LETTER WAS MAILED for the oath ceremony date! And then they sent a notice that my wife missed her ceremony. Nice.

So the letter wasn't lost in the mail. It was never sent. They told us that we have to be put back in the queue and this time the letter will be sent not as a batch mailing, but individually to ensure it gets sent. They would not schedule her ceremony while we were there. So now it's another waiting game.

Sure will be nice when this is over. So far we are snagged at the finish line.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

So when we were at the infopass meeting they told us that we should expect a letter in a week to 14 days. It's now been 18 days and no letter. I went to set up another infopass and it tells me that no infopass appointments are available at my location. Huh? Really?

Any suggestions on how we can get at least a status update to see if they actually started the rescheduling process for the oath ceremony?

The case status still has the old status, "Oath Ceremony Needs To Be Rescheduled Because I Did Not Appear".

Feeling frustrated :ranting:
