Police records from every country?

Hi everyone,

My case is now processing at NVC and they need additional paperwork such as police reports.

I have lived in Australia, the Netherlands and Ireland, and I wonder how I will ever get those forms together.

For a police report for Australia I need to apply in person according to several websites.

I do know how to obtain it from Ireland, but knowing the police there, I would be surprised if they would really send it to me.

Is it really necessary to provide all those documents when I don't have a criminal background?

many thanks.

Not supplying the required documents leads to delays and frustrations.

If you've received an RFE that means processing has stopped and will not resume until the requested items are submitted.

I have not received an RFE yet, I wonder if my case can get processed if I have only 2 police records from Ireland and the Netherland and not form my short time in Australia.

Thanks for replying.

You only need police records from previous residences if you've lived there for more than 1 year.

For country of current residence and country of residence, it's a minimum of 6 months.

This is all for after the age of 16.

I had a look at the website afp.gov.au and this is what it says:

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) can only provide National Police Checks for:

  • residents of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Jervis Bay Territory and external Commonwealth territories

I have lived in Sydney. What should I do in that case?

Not sure where you are looking but look at this link: http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks/national-police-checks

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) can only provide National Police Checks for:

  • residents of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Jervis Bay Territory and external Commonwealth territories
  • people seeking employment with the Commonwealth Government
  • people requiring a check under Commonwealth legislation
  • Australian immigration purposes
  • where the applicant resides overseas
  • overseas employment
  • overseas adoption
  • visa applications for overseas travel.

How long did you live in Ireland and Australia? I assuming you're Dutch and you no longer live in Ireland or Australia? If so, you only need a police cert from these places if you lived there for a year or longer.

I have lived in Ireland for 5 years, and Australia for almost 2, so I guess I have no choice than to try to get those police reports. Thank you!
