Interview location

Hey everyone!

I am a Belgian citizen currently living and working in the UK. I moved here because of my husband who got orders to be stationned here. He is now returned to the US and we just started the CR1 process. I wish we did it through DCF before he left but we had no idea of the processing times. Anyway what happened is in the past. We are now looking forward.

I have a question regarding the location of the interview. Would it be at the London embassy since we got married in the UK or would it be at the Brussels embassy since I am a Belgian citizen. I am quite confused about this. Any members in a smilar situation?

London if you are going to continue living here in the UK throughout the process. Since you are lawfully resident here, this will be your embassy location.

Are you legally residing in the UK currently or just there visiting? Wherever your legal residence is (home country or country of residence with work/residence visa) is where you will interview.

You generally interview in the country where you are resident, as others have said.

I am from the UK but was legally residing in Germany during the visa process so had my interview at Frankfurt consulate.

I am legally residing in the UK and have a permanent job here. Do you think that moving back to Belgium while the process is pending would cause any delay? I am thinking about it as I have no family nor friends here. But I won't move back to Belgium if this would make the process longer.

At this stage it won't make any difference but you will need to update your address. Further down the line it will make a difference if you move when you get to NVC stage - if you're going to move I would do it sooner rather than later.

I was thinking of moving back to Belgium once the NVC has completed my case...but maybe it is not the best plan. Also my husband has an upcoming deployment in July. According to the processing times we should get to the NVC stage around this time of the year. Will the NVC send him all the forms to file to his deployment base in the Middle East? I just read it again, sorry. Apparently they send everything by email instead of postal mail? This is a very good thing then :-)
