My husbands first name had a typo error .Uscis had it corrected on the notice .But nvc has not yet .I submitted all the docs .Is this something to worry about?? We have emailed nvc. But no reply.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but it may cause a delay. my husbands date of birth was inputted wrong in their system, and it caused them to rescan our case a whole month after our original scan date... so frustrating. It usually takes a couple of weeks for them to get back to you via email.

My husbands first name had a typo error .Uscis had it corrected on the notice .But nvc has not yet .I submitted all the docs .Is this something to worry about?? We have emailed nvc. But no reply.

I had the same issue, where I misspelled my wife's first name in the DS-260. I emailed the NVC with the biographical page of her passport and within few weeks it was corrected.

When you email them, make sure to put your case number in the subject line. Also include your name, your husband's name and his date of birth in the body of the email.

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone ,

Did anyone file the I-864 with an adult student dependent on latest tax transcript and did you file the I-864a for that person? There will only be one sponsor. Thanks

Is the student having their income being combined to help the income guidelines? If not there is no reason for them to.

The I-864a isn't for dependents to fill out but for family members who want their income to be considered also.

I thought so too...until I read this: "1. If you included the income of your spouse listed in Part 5., Item Number 3., any child listed in Part 5., Item Number 4., any dependent listed in Part 5., Item Number 5., or any siblings, parents, or adult children listed in Part 5., Item Number 7., each one of these individuals must be over 18 years of age and must complete Form I-864A."

Because my adult step-daughter is on my husband's latest tax transcript as a dependent, though a student, we listed her in Part 5 of I-864 but in no shape or form is she financially supporting the AOS. Are we misunderstanding the process?

Do you know if NVC can help me if I call them tomorrow? Thanks for your help.

No you are miss reading Part 5. And I see no where it says a dependent in Part 5 has to fill out a I-864A. Where do you see that. Reread Part 5 NUmber 7.

Your daughter is counted in the Household size in Part 5. That's correct the next part of Part 5 says (Spouses Income) and they goes on to say

"Income you are using from any other person who was counted in your household size, including, in certain conditions, the intending immigrant".
So She should not be listed there.
No NVC will not help you fill out the form. They can not legally help you.

So I'm preparing for the NVC. My I-130 was approved last month, so I'll be calling next week to find out about my case number. But I am already preparing the documents needed for the NVC, namely I-1864. I heard I can print it out and fill it before the NVC gives me the invoice. Is this the one: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864.pdf ?

See, I will need a joint sponsor since I live abroad for over two years and I am self-employed. I do have ties back home that will prove domicile, but as for the affidavit, well, I will need a co-sponsor. So is this I-864 the one for the co-sponser and if so, can I use it to prepare?

The hard copy comes within 30 days. After a week from NOA2, USCIS sends petition to NVC that's when the message changes to sent to Department of state. It arrives in NVC then receive. Usually we say 2 weeks after NOA2 start calling NVC for case# and IIN. It's 14 to 28 days from when it arrives to get case#.

Read the NVC Process wiki so you know what to do and how to prepare.
