When I do my AOS do I put my full name that is on the license or tell them what last name I wanna have on my paperwork ?

Whatever name you are going to be using from this point onwards. This will be the name that appears on your green card.

If you use your married name, ensure you enter your maiden name under the "other names used" section for all forms that have one.

I got married on Jan 7th (in Texas) and when I went on Jan 11th to have the licensed signed and was told the marriage license is the marriage certificate

But I remember hearing people getting A RFE for showing the License but not the certificate

For people who got married and did there AOS in Texas and got approved did you just show them the license and explained or did somehow got a certificate from somewhere ?

It threw me off also when I learned that the license and certificate here in Texas are one. I just made sure that I submitted a certified copy of the marriage license to avoid any RFE. It was, I think, $3 per copy in 2011, so I got 2 copies, in case I need it again in the future.

It's that way here in Arkansas too. We sent a certified copy for AOS it was cheap to get extra copies so we got a few.

My husband and I have done the CR/IR-1 visa and we got married in Texas. It's like Hypnos says. In Texas, you get the license from the county clerk, bring it to the person marrying you, he/she signs and dates it and then the marriage license is returned to the county clerk, they sign and date it and update it in their system and then it becomes your marriage cert. So you have what you need to prove that you're legally married.

It's the same in Connecticut (and in CT the document is called License and Certificate of Marriage, so at least it's clear).

The license technically only becomes a certificate once the marriage officiant has completed their section, but they are the same document. You can take yours to the county recorder's office and have them give you certified copies. In Dallas, they were only $10 each. We had been waiting for our marriage certificate back in the mail for about three weeks, so we went downtown to get certified copies for the AOS. They still had the certificate there! That worked out fine since we got to carry our copies and original home with us! I requested four copies from them just for peace of mind with the AOS process. I sent one for the GC, one for the EAD, and one for the AP and I kept a copy for ourselves. (I sent in three copies to substantiate my husband's name change.)

They do the same in Florida, when we went to record the marriage, clerk took the license, made a copy of it covering part of information, then put all the signatures and stamps and handed it to us as marriage certificate.. Though it caused some confusion when we had to use, because it still has word license on it.. I contacted clerk later asking if we can get certified nice copy (like the one you can hang on the wall), but he said it's only for decoration purposes and the paper we've got is official marriage certificate.

Last time I got my marriage certs in Dade Cty it cost $8.00 (I think) we got three

Just to add more evidence, I got married in Texas (Bexar County) and we used the original license which becomes the certificate once they put the seal on it. We sent in a copy of front and back to USCIS and NVC and I just brought the original to my interview yesterday and there was no issues.

I asked that on Monday and he said that the license is the certificate but I have this weird feeling, you think it's best if I should just call them cuz my fiancé works on weekdays and only had Monday off which sadly he also has a car and were we live at the moment there is no bus stops for me to go alone

I got married an Texas too and had requested both Marriage Certificate and Marriage license ( different time - Marriage Certificate First next was marriage license ) but when I received both, I noticed they are the same document sent to me.
