Kind of confused with other timelines - with some people it takes less than 6 months for everything to be approved and then sometimes it takes over 12 months.

What's the usual timeframe for everything to be approved and processed?

Right I would say in general the cases completed the fastest are done via DCF-which is not the usual

for most people it is about a year just over or under, a fair amount of that depends on how fast you get your paperwork into the NVC and making sure your paperwork is complete and accurate

It also depends on your embassy, some have little to no wait to schedule interviews, whereas others have a wait of several months to get an interview schedule

DCF??

A year is such a long time. :(

We have just about finished our paperwork and we are going to get a lawyer to go over everything to make sure everything is complete and accurate. Didn't want to take any chances and want it done ASAP!

My embassy would be Australia so hopefully it isn't a huge wait. I understand Australia is a low fraud country so at least that's also in my favour! :)

Direct consular filing. Not available in Australia

Well that sucks!

I have seen SEVERAL instances where lawyers have slowed down the process. Most people on this site do their petitions themselves and do not have any problems.

14 months? Oh dear. :(

Wishing you a speedy resolution.

I would think twice about wasting money on a lawyer. Sit down with the guide from here and look over each document slowly and carefully. If you filled it all out yourself you can proofread and double check it! That's the easy part!

Good Luck.
