We met on 2003 by a mutual friend in Netherlands and kept in contact ever since. After many visits both ways and he staying here for 3 months, we decided that we wanted to go for the 129F. Woohoo!

I'm filing today, and we've been together a little over ten months. To me, this actually seems really fast. Unfortunately, the government sort of puts people in an odd situation, because I find it hard for our relationship to progress over emails and $.20/minute phone calls. He can't come to visit me because he doesn't have strong proof of ties to his country, and at $1700 for a plane ticket, I can't visit him all too often either.

I feel solid about our relationship, but I think if visiting were made easier, I would wait maybe another year to file for the visa.

3.5 months in person... I'm leaving in a few weeks for another 2 weeks of kilts and castles - this time bringing the kids so we'll leave out the scotch. I seriously think you need to count the constant messaging, cams, phone calls etc. I think I'll need this laptop surgically removed by the time he gets here for good.

Gene and I met on-line in 2002. We physically met in person October 2003. Until I moved down here in January 2007, we met every two months for at least 2 weeks. In 2005, I lived with him for 3 months. We filed May 2006, 3 years after meeting up on-line, and just short of three years meeting in person.

Wow interesting results so far ... seems people either pulled the trigger off the bat or they decided to wait it out and take it slow. Not surprising I guess but cool to see the data none the less.

Interesting post to you mean physically together or as a couple in general (including processing time)

I can't seem to edit the original post ... I would go with as a couple in general. Or even further than that and make it since you first knew each other even if you weren't "officially" going out.

We met online back in June 2001 while I was going to school in the US. After 6 days of emails and several calls, we met in person and have been together since (except for the 6 months we decided to have time off to sort things out).

We had thought about getting married before I would have to leave the US for my home country (it was an obligation to do so), but decided not to for fear of complications of how to bring me back to the US. I am glad we didn't get married then.

We have been apart for 18 months now. It is still as hard being apart today as it was months ago. You guys totally know what I mean.

I wish he could file a petition sooner. A part of my obligation is I have to be present in my home country for at least 2 years before relocation can take place.

Right now, I am waiting for him to complete the file and mail it out. Then we will start counting down to when we are together again. And this time will be for life.

Best of Luck to everyone. Thank you for looking after each other and helping each other out.

Ladywhite :)

Ours is a long and kind of complicated story that I don't feel comfortable writing online. We knew right away that we wanted to be together (well, once we actually started talking that is, because I wasn't interested at all at first! lol) but at some point, due to certain people, ended up deciding to wait a year before getting married. The year is over so here we are. In a way I'm glad because the year and a half or so probably helped give us the patience we will need for this process, and hopefully this process, as with the other things we've been through together, will help to make our marriage all that much more stronger!
