Based on people's signatures, it seems the amounts of time couples have been together before submitting the I-129F petition varies quite a bit. I thought it might be interesting to start a poll to see what the distribution looks like.

For us, we really wanted to just take it slow. I have the luxury of living just a couple hours away from my fiance so I get to visit her every weekend. Granted, at first, we would never have thought we would be getting married ... but over two years later here we are. Life's crazy that way I guess.

So what about you?

Yup - 2 years here too. Agian, we had the luxury of living in the same country, and then moving in with each other. But I dont think we would have been able to do this whole process if we hasnt had that time together. I'm not a very trusting person, and I needed to be able to trust ther person i'm gonna marry 100% - and that time together allowed that!

10 months for us... then he visited twice just to make sure that we will be doing the right thing. Eventhough we hit it off right away the first time we met in person, we thought it would be best if we won't rush things, instead, get to know each other more. Now, we're very much in love with each other. Not only we are soulmates but we're best of friends too...

We were in the same place for the first 5 months of our relationship and then I spent another 3 months in his country, combined with many other trips and constant communication. We were together for a bit more than a year and a half before he proposed (though I was fully hooked much earlier).

Time flies when you're in love. (yet, it kinda oddly drags too when you aren't together. Y'all know what I mean).

Yeah, we met the summer of 2004, but I voted from when we actually started talking a lot. We met that summer and kept in touch but only like once every month or something! It wasn't until Jan 2005 that we actually started talking regularly. But we've lived together since May 2006 and I definitely think it has helped us get to know each other and fill out these forms!!!!

Very interesting poll by the way! Thanks for it!

Thanks, yes we think our relationship is quite unique. All together we have been physically together for about 3 months during my visits to where she is living. She loves it in Cyprus where she lives now. She won a bronze in a horse jumping competition there and will actually appear in a tv commercial, on horse back! I hate to take here away from the tropical island but she is ready!

We met online by accident while i was currently married and became really good friends. We fell for each other and not long after that I left my husband in December of 2005 (the marriage had gone bad anyway, but i now had a reason to leave). After talking online and on the phone for 9 months, he came to america in may of 2006. We officially call may 1st our anniversary because that's when we met in person even though we met online in august of 2005. Never in a million years did i imagine my life would turn in this direction lol, but i'm sure glad it did
