I entered the US in July 2014 on a CR-1 visa.

So later this year I should become a Permanent Resident.

My question is: can I vote in the 2016 presidential elections?

hi

no, only US Citizens can vote, once you become a USC, you can vote, one of the 100 is about being able to vote and serve as a juror once you become a USC

but it is considered a misrepresentation to vote

you are a permanent resident, only conditional

A privilege of that is afforded a US Citizen is being able to vote in government elections.

If you somehow managed to vote, it would constitute a federal crime that could very well get you deported.

You can't vote in the Presidential election yet, not until you're a naturalized citizen, but in some areas you can vote in local elections (like for mayor or counselman, things like that). You just have to check the local election laws :)

No. You can not vote in the 2016 presidential election.

Only US citizens can vote for president.

If you register to vote, you will be making a representation of being a US citizen. You don't actually have to vote. Merely registering to vote will get you in trouble. This would be a Federal crime which would prevent you from becoming a US citizen and lead to your deportation.

You came with. CR-1 visa, you are already a permanent resident. Later this year, you will file to remove the condition on your 2 -year conditional permanent residency.
