Out of curiosity, who else who filed for AOS in January is still waiting for their GC?

Seems like so many people go theirs really quickly! We had to fight just to get the EAD/AP and I'm hoping my AOS file wasn't forgotten in the process. :P No RFE, no interview notice, my case is still at "Fingerprints fee received".

I'm on the same boat with you. Still waiting for my interview notice, no REF. We filed around the same period.

So I don't know if this will help anyone, but after reading a few of the members who haven't had a GC interview or even EAD/AP yet in some situations, I thought I would mention it.

During my interview back in April, after the point where we got approved, the interviewer was making some small talk while she filled out the paperwork and explained the things about what to expect next. The small talk revolved around some of her work which was interesting, and I sort of forgot about it until reading some posts from the last few days. She made a point to mention about a stack of applications she had behind her on another desk. Looked like around 10 applications or so all in one stack. I don't remember why but she mentioned that those were all people who were going to get denied a green card or permanent resident card. She said some had been there for months but she hasn't had time to get to them. Now I do remember that she said some were for the 10-year cards, but she didn't mention if they were for the 2-year cards or not.

I bring this up because she was talking about when we reapply for the 10-year card that if you provide enough evidence, 90-95% of the time you will not need an interview for the 10-year card, they will just approve it and be good to go. The other 5-10% go to a field office for interview due to whatever lack of evidence. If at a glance they see you have a boatload of evidence, it seems they will skim through it and approve it since you have so much.

Now I'm not sure how much evidence you all provided, but I believe that for the 2-year card they have to at least have an interview. During that interview they will tell you whether they approve you or not. Especially since if there was a lack of evidence they would have sent an RFE. Also some offices interview everyone either due to location or they happen to have the time to do it.

I just remembered this and I hope it's some information at least that could be useful. Good luck to all of you who are left waiting for months on end. I thought we were unlucky because we had to wait until April for an interview when people were getting approved left and right. Let us know how it goes when you get updates.

so is my case. it took so much trouble and time to get EAD/AP. I'm planning to follow up with our congressman in 3-4 months who helped to get EAD/AP.

Guys I finally got an email update saying that my new AED card is mailed to my address. You will not believe it but I got my biometrics after 6 months of applying for the GC AP AED and AOS!!!!! They just forgot about it and I was so stupid to not follow up till April when I woke up. From my slumber joined this group and started follow up. Went to info pass a couple of times sent expedited request and finally got this message today.

My questions to you are:

1. In how many days will I get the physical EAD card after email confirmation

2. What about social security number. Will I be able to get SSN with EAD and get a drivers license. I was so frustrated that I had applied for AB 60 License and got my permit. Will I change it to regular license after getting SSN?

3. After EAD how much time it usually takes for GC

Thanks so much waiting for your replies !!

#1: Took us five days to get the EAD card after we saw we were approved online. Never got email verification. Make sure the online status updates as thats when we counted our waiting for EAD card date.

For #2, you should have been able to get a social security number already. We went in before we got married (went in October, married in December) and got SSN for my wife. Required a birth certificate, notarized translation, I-94, picture ID (passport) and one or two other things. Of course we had to go back after the marriage to change her name on the SS card but all that took was the marriage certificate, old SS card and ID card. The ID card you can get as soon as you get an SSN. We waited on the Driver's License until after the name change to prevent extra fees, it wasn't a big hassle.

#3, We got the EAD approval online 4 days before going to our GC interview. Then we got the EAD the day after our interview, so it really wasn't helpful then but it's fine. Timelines on EAD to GC times really vary from days to months. No way to know for sure.

Hope this helps.

My SO came in on a K1 and we had to interview. Check the posts in this topic on April 15th as that's when I posted about our interview experience. Some places that are slower and don't have as many interviews will interview everybody. It wasn't bad for us actually, it went very smoothly. Hoping the same for you too.

I would like to share our experience. We had our interview yesterday for the AOS. At first we thought it would be a tough interview because when we arrived in their office, there are four couples waiting to be interviewed, all of them has an attorney accompanied them. We are the only couple there without attorney. The officer who interviewed had ask to see our ID. So, I showed her both our passports and my EAD card. She only ask questions like how we met, how we decided to get married, was my mom happy about our relationship, what is my status in the UK, and how I became a UK resident, and 'did i entered US before?'. She then chose 3 pictures in our album, and ask one photo who were the people there. While she's flipping the photos, we were both telling where it was taken and who are with us, and the interviewer seems to be happy about that. The rest of the questions we're regarding about security like 'have you been arrested in other countries?' Do you have organisations?' Which i answered all 'NO'. The Immigration officer then told us that it's done and explained about when is the time of removal of condition. Did not say if we were approve or Not. She just commented that she will send a letter if she needs additional evidence for further review, other than that she said 'If not, I will just send the GC straight through the post. She also added that we were the easiest interview she made on that day. We were hoping it was a compliment. ? Three hours later our case status was updated to 'New Card is being produced'. Hoping the GC will arrive soon.

Hello friends!

First if all, thank you all so much for being there for each other otherwise it would have been so difficult to keep guessing what happening...

Finally almost 7 months I got my EAD/AP combo card. You will be so surprised to know that my biometrics wer don after 6 months of applying for the GC and AOS. They completely forgot about it and then we had to shake these guys and after infopass appointment, next day I got notice for biometrics!!!

Anyways, the USCIS people are really sweet and they expedited my EAD and I got my card today.

Any idea how long before my i-130 and 485 get approved. I am so anxious now and everyday checking my status.

Most Importantly, can i get an SSN on my EAD? I went to get SSN and they told me they cant do it because I was on visit visa and needed 797 approved or any other legit document. Is EAD valid for getting SSN?

Thanks and love you all. Good Luck to all of us

It is possible to go with your ead and get your Ssn. I believe you have to take your passport, birth certificate and marriage certificate if you changed your name, the ead and the form ss5 filled, but better to check on their website. Ss officers are known to be difficult, so if the one who you're dealing with says otherwise, be firm, ask for a supervisor, etc.

its hard to predict when your case updates again, but hopefully soon after all this time that made you wait, but it's really up to your field office workload and backlog so they can schedule your interview.

For now it's more waiting, unfortunately.

Good luck
