Quick question. We have biometrics tomorrow. The letter in the mail has her married last name, but her state ID card has her original last name. Passport has her original last name. We are taking the certified marriage certificate with us as proof that we are married. Will there be an issue with getting fingerprinted since we didn't get an ID with the updated name yet? When we went to the Social Security office after the marriage they said we needed to have USCIS update it first before they could update it. I think that's not correct but I don't know the system.

Will we have any issues tomorrow or will it just delay things until we go to Social Security, update the name and then reschedule biometrics?

I had my ID with maiden name, on my appointment letter it has married name and I took the marriage certificate to reflect my name change (they asked for it also) and it was fine.

Do not worry.

Long story short, we submitted AOS at the end of January and received the NOA1's dated at the end of January. After 2 weeks we still didn't receive a Biometrics appointment letter.

I started having this uneasy feeling so I called the USCIS a couple of times and the Tier1 reps told me that the appointment still wasn't setup in the system yet and to call back after a month. This happened 3 times.

I called a couple of days ago, and I asked again to speak to a Tier 2 rep and they transferred me.

The Tier2 rep told me that my wife had missed the appointment!

I was beyond anger and shock. We never received any appointment letter in the mail. Plus the Tier 1 reps kept on telling us that our Biometrics wasn't setup yet.

Tier 2 told me we would be receiving mail in a couple of weeks regarding this incident. Not even an appointment day. Just a follow up to this incident.

They told me in the meantime, to try and do a walk-in. They told me they would fax me the Biometrics letter. Didn't receive it that night.

Tried doing a walk-in today and got rejected because we didn't have the letter.

I again called and spoke to Tier 2 who just said that they would fax it again to me today. Never got it again.

The Tier 2 reps said all they can do is send the request to the team that faxes it. It still hasn't happened.

I can't get a fax. Infopass has no openings for at least another 3 weeks.

I don't know what to do at this point. I feel completely helpless.

so sorry to hear that. I feel your frustration, can you try to contact your congressman or senator's office at this point? Patience is not a quality of mine so I would definitely try that, they might be able to get an answer faster.

Good luck,keep us posted :)

Went for my biometrics yesterday in York,Pa. I got there a half hour before my appointment. My appointment was at 10am, I was the only one there at 930 so they took me right in. They had me fill out a form, said no phones allowed on, asked to see appointment letter and passport(passport has my maiden name on it and they didn't ask to see marriage license, but I brought it anyways just in case). I was in and out in 10 minutes. After I got there and was taken in the place started to get busy.

Apparently, according to the other Tier 2 reps I spoke to recently, they cannot fax out a Biometrics appointment letter that has passed already. This is different from what other Tier 2 reps told me.

So we have no choice now but to wait for an official response by letter (please let me actually receive it this time Postal Service).

Just a headsup for future Biometrics appointment waiting individuals. If you haven't received a Biometrics appointment letter within 2-3 weeks of your NOA1, you need to speak to Tier2 immediately. Tier 1 does not see nor have access to the information Tier 2 has. Do not wait for the 30 day mark.

Ugh, this is me. My Fingerprint fee was received on January 29th and I still don't have my biometrics letter. I just called USCIS and the person on the line would not connect me to tier 2. I kept asking and she kept repeating the same line like a robot: "The required wait time is 30 days before any inquiry will be made on your case". I finally got so annoyed that she wouldn't talk to me like a human being that I said "Ok, bye!" and hung up. :P

I guess I'll try again tomorrow and hope I get someone else.

Had biometrics today at the Yakima branch at 11AM. Got there at 10:35AM to be early. Only two people inside waiting when we entered and they weren't in our line. Went right up to the window and got the form to fill out. After barely finishing the form they called her up, checked ID and asked if we have ID with the married name on it. Provided the marriage certificate which they accepted and returned with no problems. Was next in line for fingerprinting behind one person already doing their fingerprints. Within a few minutes my wife got fingerprinted and we left. Total less than 15 minutes from entering the door to leaving. We got home before our scheduled appointment time. The office never got busy although there were seats for 40 people or so. They did make up turn off our phones in front of security though. Overall it was a good experience.

After all that what's next? Wait for the EAD card and then what?

I am sorry for all of you who have not received the biometrics letter yet. And for the RFEs. I just wanted to say that because we all know how annoying and nerve-wracking this whole process is. We are together in this :)

If there is anything I can say is that eventually all of us will have our green cards, even though it feels like that day will take forever to come.

There will be a lot of celebrating going on for each and every one of us when the EAD/AP and GC's get approved over the next several weeks!

My husband and I have even saved a bottle of Champagne that a guest at our wedding gave us, just for when my EAD arrives!

Hey leisli, I am sorry to hear about this delay for you, and hope it's resolved soon. If it still does not progress, please contact our local senator and/or congressman (Liz Warren and Michael Capuano for my neighborhood) and ask their immigration specialist to write to USCIS on your behalf. It worked for me during my J-1 visa waiver process. Good luck, my friend!

After reading your story, I'm very worried about our case. My NOA was dated 1/29 so only few days behind from your case. However we still have not received the biometric letter yet.

Long story short, we submitted AOS at the end of January and received the NOA1's dated at the end of January. After 2 weeks we still didn't receive a Biometrics appointment letter.

The Tier2 rep told me that my wife had missed the appointment!
