After receiving my NOA2 by post a month ago I have been rather lazy and have not bothered to follow up with the NVC until today. Anyway after being on hold for half an hour or so (expensive call from Australia) I finally spoke with a pretty helpful guy. I told him my USCIS receipt no and he was able to advise my case number and invoice ID number. Turns out my case was assigned 26th October and an instructions package had been mailed out to me. i haven't seen anything arrive yet so it's either lost or coming any day now. He took my email address and will resend the instructions package by email. i was able to nominate myself as agent over the phone which i think means i do not have to do the DS261 submission - can someone confirm this?? Apparently the the fees will be generated within the next few days and then i can log on and pay.

Congratulations on the approval and getting case# and all. Okay ere is some things you missed.

Yes you have to fill out a DS-261 it's online if you are the agent then you will select you. Everything going forward will e via email.

Here is the NVC Process wiki so you can get your ducks in a row and start getting things together.

So keep checking the portal for DS-261 and AOS fee.

Congratulations that great news on the approval.

Everyone who gets an interview experiences that Its only 4 days later. It goes from READY to AP to ISSUED Some times it jumps back to READY. Give it the 10 days like they say.

After seeing some of the timelines for the NVC to receive the case, I was expecting a wait of 2-3 weeks, but just called them and they said they received it today! Woo Hoo! Now to start calling for the case number next week.

Yay!

Congrats!

Hope you are getting your documents together in the meantime! :)

HERE WE GO !!

Just received the NOA2 from Nebraska center !!

I have a question, I tried to look for the answer, but I fail...

Once I have the interview or the visa in hand, how many months do I have to enter in the USA ?

May I leave after? During several month?

If you have the answer, it will be a pleasure for me to know it !

Thank you

Have a good day !

Thank you for your answer !

I saw here : http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/family/immediate-relative.html#16that it depends on the visa...

but 6 months is great !

Do you know if I can leave the country after ?

Let us imagine that I enter to the USA with the CR1 VISA (youyyyyyyyyyyyouuuuuuuuuyouyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu !!), I stay there for one week or 2 then I come back to my country for several months (, let say 2 or 3, 4 max for work...) and then I go definitively to the USA !

May I do that ??

That's a question that I was asking myself also... But I think you cannot leave the country until you have the Green Card in your hand and that one can take quite a while to get it. I might be wrong though...

Dwheels, any idea?

Hey there buddy June Filer! lol

I've looked into this myself and the answer YEEESSSS! A CR1 visa holder can automatically become a (conditional) resident upon entry. You may leave anytime you want but also you may not want to be gone out of the US for more than 6 - 12 months - this can lead to some sort of suspicion.
