Comments : I arrived in the US on April 13th. My POE was Dublin. I flew with Aer Lingus and arrived safely in Chicago.

POE went well. They were not a lot of line. I was welcomed by a nice woman officer. She brought me to another room and gave my sealed envelop to another person. This person asked me the name of my husband and my final destination. He also showed me a paper and asked me to verify if my personal information were correct. He asked for a phone number in the US. And just told me that my visa and stamp are valid until I received my physical green card.

I am travelling in July with my husband, and I asked him if I won't have any issue to enter the US if I didn't receive my physical green card which he responded by no.

It only took less than 20 minutes.

Event Description

Embassy Review : My appointment was at 1pm. They only let me in at 12:55. The security took my phone to save it in their box.The embassy was only opened in the afternoon for Us citizen, Family visa and fiance. It was only 11 of us waiting. They called me at the first window at 1:30pm to submit my interview letter and told me to sit and wait again for my number to be called.

They called me a second time at 2:30 to collect my original documents. The lady (very nice by the way) asked me for my DS260 confirmation. As soon as I gave it to her, I mentioned the mistake I made on my DS260. She told me this is the right moment to do so. She said "I can't modify it, but I can put a note to indicate the correct date". I brought a corrected form so she could see where to do the modification (instead of 2009, I had indicated 2004 on the residence question).

Then, she asked me for the certified copy of my birth certificate, certified copy of my wedding certificate and certified copy of my police certificate.
For my wedding certificate, she just wanted to see the original.

She asked if we had any new financial evidence to give, I explained that my husband hasn't file taxes yet. But I gave her his 2015 W2, which she took.

Then she asked me if I had a copy of my social security card, I told her no. She asked me when did I obtain it and I told her when I went to study in 2009. She said that in those cards there is a note on it that says you can work in the US only with authorization and I need to have a new card since I have a new status. So she requested a new one for me (when I went home, I realized she was right, it was indicated : Valid for Word only with DHS authorization'0. She told me that if my visa is approved I will receive my passport and a sealed envelop. Then I waited again 5 minute to be interviewed.

The lady made me swear and asked me:

How did we meet?
When and where did you get married?
Who attend your wedding?
What does your husband do in life? How long has he been in his company?

At the end, she said everything looks fine. I asked to be sure ' Am I approved'. She said 'yes' and she explained that I will receive my visa in 10 days and to not book any flight before I received it.

We did it !! After all this time, I was soo happy, I will finally see my husband after 1 year and 3 months without seeing each other.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
