The letter said that the fee amount was not correct. My spouse sent two money orders one being $1000 and the other being $70. I guess they didn't like that? Idk, will send it off again tomorrow with the money orders edited to go 985 and 85.

Sorry to hear. That's the correct way to do it; 985 and 85. I sent 2 money orders for those amounts as the max allow per order is $1000. Good luck.

I'm very sorry, we did money order too. Next time make money order for $985 and $85. That's the correct way to do it. Tell your spouse it's gonna be alright and good luck ?

Oh no! That's weird. I only sent one personal check for $1070, why wouldn't they accept 1000/70?

The max amount for money order is $1000, they didn't accept the 1000/70 because it wasn't the right amount of the filling fee for Adjustment of Status and for Biometrics

We seem to share a similar case. Did not know you are given an A number on the receipt. I am awaiting the hard copies in the mail. My case was accepted around the same time as yours. Good luck!

I'm surprised the govt trips off of the amounts sent (as long as they add up to the correct fees). Silly and makes for more time and work for everyone.

Our lovely journey!!

10/08/2015: AOS packet sent to USCIS (Chicago lockbox) via USPS Priority mail (They received it 10/10/15).

10/16/2015: Text/eEmails received from USCIS with receipt number. We received 3.

10/22/2015: Received hard copies of NOA's for I-131, I-765, & I-485.

11/01/2015: Got NOA for biometrics appt (for 11/12/15).

11/03/2015: Did WALK IN biometrics appt - took 15 mins. Person taking said work permit should be in mail in less than 4 wks.

12/09/2015: Got email/text notification for INTERVIEW date.

12/28/2015: Got email/text notification EAD card has been mailed.

12/31/2015: Received EAD/AP card.

As of 11/5/15 our application to register permanent residence or adjust status is ready for interview scheduling! I was hoping we'd skip the interview all together, but that's okay!

No updates on status of AP/EAD. Could it be that we'd get a green card before EAD/AP are even approved? How soon are interviews usually scheduled?
