Hello all,

next week I will have my medical exam for my K1 interview in Montreal.

I was already looking into the AOS process and saw that I will need the I-693.

So I asked the clinic that is doing my medical exam if they could fill it for me already or if I could get a copy of my medical exam or anything.

They told me that I would get a copy of my vaccinations and I could request a copy of my chest x-rays and my blood test (nothing will be sealed), but nothing else.

Now my questions is: how does the process usually look like? Will I get my results of the medical exam back after my interview?

Or do I just take that copy of my vaccinations to a civil surgeon so he will fill the form for me?

What exactly is happening?

And is there any chance that I could include the I-693 in my medical exam already so I won't have to see a surgeon later again?

Thank you all!

Have a nice day!

I am going to follow this topic because I have the same question. I was thinking that the Form I-693 is in the DO NOT OPEN envelop you get when you get your passport with visa attached to cross the border, but I'm not sure.

You may not have such a problem, but I know we will need to do another medical. One thing I have learned is that the medical you do overseas is good for one year to when they process the conditional GC. If you arrive in US and do AOS soon, you may not need another medical - you may get the conditional GC in about 10 months or so (or how ever long they are taking now). For us, our timeline may leave less than 8 months left on the medical conducted, so I'm thinking we will need to visit the surgeon general somewhere. But before all that - where is this form we send in? It must be in the medical documents...but is it?

Will I get my results of the medical exam back after my interview? No, your medical exam will stay at the embassy and in their system. You will get copy of your x-rays (usually in a disk) and form DS 3025 which is your vaccinations record. The form will either complete or incomplete because some embassies do not require you to have all vaccinations. You will need to include form DS 3025 with your AOS packet, you will need the vaccinations portion of Form I-693 completed by a civil surgeon, however, a lot of civil surgeons do not want to do just that part and might require you to do a whole medical exam.

Or do I just take that copy of my vaccinations to a civil surgeon so he will fill the form for me? Yes

What exactly is happening? Not sure what this means

And is there any chance that I could include the I-693 in my medical exam already so I won't have to see a surgeon later again? No, I-693 can only be done in the US by a civil surgeon, however, is not necessary unless at the time that you apply for AOS 12 months have passed, which is how long your medical exam is good for.

You do not get a copy of your medical exam. I-693 is done in the US by a civil surgeon, a complete medical exam is only required if it has been 12 months since the one done at your home country.

You would have to download and take it to a civil surgeon if you'll need a medical exam or only the vaccinations part done.

Jose&Eli,

Are you saying that if we have the vaccinations documented on DS 3025, we send in a copy of that with the AOS packet?

Case we skip the I-693 if our medical hasn't past the one year mark?

An I-693 is a USCIS form and is only provided by civil surgeons within the US.

Your K-1 medical abroad is overseen by the Dept. of State and the panel physicians use DS(Dept. of State) forms. Your medical forms will be included in your sealed envelope that you will turn in at your POE. You will be given a copy of your DS-3025, which is the vaccinations. If you have all the required vaccinations marked off on a properly filled out DS-3025, then you do not need to see a civil surgeon in the US for an I-693.
