To quote an oldie, "Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right..."

I got my NOA2 on July 29th. It's now September 4th. Unlike the previous calls today's nameless voice at the NVC told me to send an email to the nvsresearch@state.gov. With the Receipt number from the CSC as the subject and the name and birth date of the Petitioner and the Beneficiary and that a scan of the receipt should be attached to the email. As soon as I got off the phone I did exactly as he asked and the email was sent about 15 minutes ago.

My question is:

Now what?

How long does it take for this kind of thing to get processed? I assume this is a manual process, though the subject line being the recipient number suggest part of it could be automated.

How many other folks have gone through this? Can anyone explain what's likely going on behind the scenes?

I thought it was there, it's certainly there now. I wonder can anyone give me any idea of how this is going to progress at this point?

My experience with the California Service Station is that they approve your petition pretty quickly but they are very slow in sending it to NVC. It is very likely that they sent your case very late.

Was it confirmed it was sent to the NVC?

GYnot, I had the same experience. My file after NOA2 was approved it was lost between Atlanta and NVC. All the phone calls and emails to "nvsresearch@state.gov" did not get me anywhere. Each call and each email made me wait 2 weeks for a response and they gave me answer talk to NVC or talk to Atlanta USCIS office from each other. i lost 4 months on this.

Finally someone asked me to contact my senator's office. I did and they have a liaison personnel with immigration authority at each Senators office. They asked me to send the entire packet and a authorization waiver form. Did that over fax and dropped the packet at the senators office. They forwarded it to NVC in 2 days and communicated via telephone to me that it is in NVC and it will be forwarded to consulate. Was in consulate in 3 weeks. Very easy and very helpful. Everything was completed in 5 days after my initial call to Senator's office. They have experience doing all these kind of work. You do that immediately, contact your local Senator don't waste time because if the packet is lost they will never trace it.

Our case got approved April 29th. But we didn't get anything for 3 months. So we did an infopass in early August, and they told me that USCIS (Vermont) sent it to NVC on July 31st. So it took them 3 months to send it out.

On Aug 18th, we got a letter from NVC with the case number and invoice number.

So, ours took almost 4 months.

I can relax now. I called today, case was approved on Sept 10th, and sent to embassy yesterday. The problem with NVC is that there is so little visibility into what is going on. It's very frustrating. But of course now that this hurdle is passed, I'm happy and it doesn't seem so bad. But last week was rough.

The week before, I had sent in emails to state.gov with the standard things. A scan of the doc from the USCIS, and our names and dates of birth. Seems that was a bit of a waste of time. Or it got someone motivated. I'm more of the opinion that things where just progressing slowly. The whole thing is rather opaque. It would be nice if there was a way to track progress but that's not the case.

One thing I will say is that the USCIS has a much better phone response system the USCIS. There's none of this crazy dialing to try and get a slot. There computer systems seem better too.

Anyway, got my case number and there's now a case number for me and one for Luz. We have to do the next round of document production, along with payment of fees and then our interview. I'm hoping we can get one sometime in October.

I am dealing with the same thing, I have NOA2 from August 24, 2015. I called to talk with an Immigration Officer (the people that answer the phone know nothing but what is on their screen), I was asked if I was calling about an RFE and they also did not know that my case was approved. I should mention that I appealed a decision to deny and my case was reopened and approved on the same day. Anyhow, the Immigration Officer put in a request to have my packet forwarded to NVC immediately. I was also asked to wait for 2 weeks for a reply, but from the NVC. My Congressman's Liaison is also involved every step of the way. If I am unable to get a response from either entity, she is able to get it for me.

Hope everyone's luck with the NVC changes soon, and it is smooth sailing from then on out! :)
