Should we be worried? Almost one year waiting for GC

Hello Vjer's,

I am wondering if my wife and I should be worried that we still have not received her Green Card.

My wife came with a K-1 visa and we got married June 2014. We filed for AOS in August and everything was received on August 13th. In November she received her EAD and then on Dec 11th we got a notice saying that it would take longer than normal to process the AOS application and that if we didn't get a response by June 11th that we should call. So we did call a couple of times and they told us just to wait. Then on July 4th we received an RFE (though they sent it to the wrong address even though I updated our address on the USCIS site in May!!!) saying that we did not sign my wife's G-325A. I have not sent that back and it was received on Thursday.

How long should we have to wait now? Should we file a service request to speed up the process? Has anyone else been waiting an entire year?

Also, we got the letter from Norfolk, VA and we live and have lived in Louisville ever since we applied. Why would our petition not be at the Louisville office?

We are planning on traveling back to Colombia in November but now we are getting worried that we may still not have the GC!!

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you in advance,

Mitchell

I have been waiting 10 months now. I applied 24 of Sept. 2014. I haden't heard from anyone until 12 of May this year, when after seeing the timelines in the USCIS website I saw that the one I'm supposed to be at by address had processed applications submitted after mine. Then it hit me, there's something wrong and I called and requested information on my case. They told me my case was sent to Reno, NV (25hrs away from where I live) I contacted a lawyer and together we sent a letter that states we want my case to be proceeded in Des Moines , IA ( my local office by address). However, just one day after we mailed that letter i received update online that I should be expecting RFE letter in the mail. (that automatically meaens they won't do anything on my case until I respond) It came and it was vaccination "issue", which was not even an actual problem. It was completely them not reading it right or losing something. ( I talked to a lawyer and civil surgeon about it ) I sent my response , which was the same as what we originally filed in a first place. They received my response on 5th of July and I have not gotten anything from them, absolute silence...

Plenty are having to wait 10-12+ months. Check the AOS progress forum for the timelines of others.

~ Moved from AOS from Family Based main forum to Progress Reports sub-forum - topic is case status ~

Hello Vjer's,

Also, we got the letter from Norfolk, VA and we live and have lived in Louisville ever since we applied. Why would our petition not be at the Louisville office?

This often happens. I think it is in order to more evenly distribute the work load among USCIS offices for AOS petitions.

Aug. 21, '17: NOA1
