EAD card received but need additional picture ID in married name for job

Hello,

So yesterday, I received my EAD + Advance Parole combo card.

That made me very happy since I figured that would allow me to work for the local company that has agreed to employ me and even waited to do so for months.

I of course immediately told my potential employer the good news. They still really want to hire me but according to their company guidelines, in addition to my EAD card, I have to have another photo ID that reflects the same name.

I have my German passport, but I entered on a K-1 visa and got married - and it's still in my maiden name.

I don't have a state ID or driver's license (which would be a better option) yet, since in the identification requirements for a Florida State ID are weird. The only ones that apply to non-refugees are:

- Valid Alien Registration Receipt Card (Green Card, Form I-551), and

- I-551 Stamp in passport or on I-94

So does that mean that without a Green Card I cannot get a state ID, even if I have an EAD card?

I even have a Social Security Card in my married name.

This is my absolute dream job and they have waited to hire me so far. Is there anything that I can do to still get a state ID or change the name on my German passport? Does anyone know how long a name change on a German passport takes, where to send it, and what my general options are, here?

Can you not apply for a driving permit?

For a small fee and of course the test you can get an ID with your picture and new name.

I don't know how to drive, I have no experience driving, I don't have my own car and Florida roads scare me (ever been on I-4 in Orlando?). I would like to learn (mainly because I may have to) but that's nothing that can be accomplished from one day to the next.

Could it be that I am putting myself in the wrong category? The guidelines I read are for immigrants. But since I entered on a K-1 and am still waiting for my green card, does that make me an immigrant or a non-immigrant. If that makes me a non-immigrant, then I think the rules are a lot easier to navigate.

Does anyone know what category I would fall into for the time being?

Go to the DMV and get a non-driver ID card

A permit does not require you to drive or learn how to get it.

You have to do the written test for the permit in order to learn how to drive. So you can get a permit to use just as ID

I don't know about florida, but in Missouri the DMV will issue you a non-driver ID card that expires when the EAD expires.
